Sri Lankan High Commissioner’s Meeting – London 🇬🇧🇱🇰

On 19th January 2026, from 3:00 PM – 4:15 PM, representatives of MALAYAGA MAKKAL ONDRIUM UK (MMO UK) were deeply honoured and privileged to meet the Honourable Sri Lankan High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr. Nimal Senadheera, and the Brigadier, at the Sri Lankan High Commission, Hyde Park Gardens, London - High Commission of Sri Lanka, London

We were warmly welcomed with excellent hospitality and treated to Sri Lanka’s iconic Ceylon Tea, creating a truly meaningful and culturally enriching environment for our discussions.

🤝 Purpose of the Meeting

The primary purpose of this meeting was to formally donate £5,000, directly from MMO UK’s treasury, towards Ditwah Cyclone flood relief.

This relief effort will be managed by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) in Sri Lanka (DMC Srilanka), via the Sri Lankan High Commission, London.

A cheque board representing this donation was presented, alongside a covering letter, which was signed by the High Commissioner.

We were also honoured to receive an official acknowledgement letter, duly signed by the Honourable Sri Lankan High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr. Nimal Senadheera, confirming receipt of the donation.

This final phase in Kandy & Matale saw our Executive Committee members of Malayaga Makkal Ondrium UK personally present Smart Boards to schools, continuing our mission to empower young learners. 💻✨

As you know, this year, we hosted a spectacular, cultural and entertaining musical fundraising event “Isai Mela 2025” on 26th April 2025 with a primary aim to raise funds to provide SmartBoards for upcountry schools in Sri Lanka.

We would like to provide you with an update on the outcome of the “Isai Mela 2025” event and how well it contributed to our aim of providing SmartBoards for upcountry schools in Sri Lanka.

We are overjoyed to share the outcome of our recent fundraising event for the Malayaga Makkal SmartBoard Project. Thanks to your kindness and generosity, the event was a great success — and we are now able to donate 15 SmartBoards to 15 schools across the upcountry regions of Sri Lanka.

This month, members of the Executive Committee of Malayaga Makkal Ondrium UK will be travelling to Sri Lanka to personally hand over the SmartBoards. The selected schools span:

✅ Nuwara Eliya District
✅ Hatton District
✅ Kandy & Matale Districts

This initiative will empower hundreds of children with access to digital learning and modern teaching tools — a step towards bridging the educational gap in these communities.
