Welcome to Peter Pan Playgroup. We are a charity run preschool in the heart of Copthorne village for children age 2-4 years.
We offer a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for children to play, learn and develop. At Peter Pan we have a workshop environment enabling children to have choice and promote independence whilst meeting the curriculum of the Department for Education for the Early Years Foundation Stage of Learning.

Goodbye, Little Stars
Today we smile with happy hearts,
Though saying goodbye is the hardest part.
We’ve shared so much, our songs and play,
And watched you learn a little each day.
You’ve painted pictures, built tall towers,
Counted numbers, picked bright flowers.
You’ve made new friends, learned to share,
And shown us just how much you care.
You’ve grown in confidence, brave and kind,
With curious hearts and eager minds.
Each story read, each game we played,
Has helped build memories that won’t fade.
Now Reception waits with open doors,
New adventures and so much more.
We know you’ll shine, be strong and true,
Because we believe in every one of you.
So spread your wings and reach for the sky,
Dream big, be brave, and always try.
We’ll miss your smiles, your laughs, your cheer,
But we’ll carry them with us year after year.
Goodbye, little stars, it’s time to fly,
With hugs, good wishes, and one last goodbye.
Remember always, wherever you roam,
A piece of our hearts will be your home ✨❤️

Today, a small group of our children took part in an Emotional Literacy session with Lou. 💛
The session introduced the children to different emotions, giving them the opportunity to name a range of feelings and talk about times when they have experienced them. They explored facial expressions by looking in mirrors and making faces to match different emotions, helping them to recognise how feelings can be expressed.
The children also drew around a body outline to explore where emotions can be felt in the body. For example, they talked about how feeling worried can sometimes make their legs feel shaky. As we discussed that all emotions are okay to feel and can be experienced throughout the body, many of the children chose to colour in the whole body to show this.
We also talked about healthy ways to manage big feelings, such as stamping our feet or jumping up and down when we feel angry, helping us to release those emotions safely.
To finish the session, the children painted beautiful rainbows before practising “Rainbow Breathing” – a calming breathing technique to help when emotions feel overwhelming. 🌈
At story time, the children proudly demonstrated Rainbow Breathing to their friends, so everyone had the chance to learn this simple strategy for finding calm during big feelings.
A huge thank you to all the children who took part so enthusiastically today. We are excited that, from September, we will be running these sessions more regularly. By helping children understand and talk about their emotions from an early age, we hope to give them valuable skills that will support their wellbeing, resilience and confidence as they grow.
💕 We are so proud of all our little learners for embracing today’s activities with such curiosity and kindness.
It may be another scorcher of a week but it doesn’t stop us from having lots of fun 🤩

Please ensure your child has suncream applied before they come in, a hat and a drink 💛

The Met Office has issued a rare red alert for hot weather in the coming days. This represents the potential for a significant risk to life, and as a result it needs to be taken seriously.
West Sussex County Council has issued the following advice
Hot weather can affect your health. The people most likely to be affected are the elderly, the very young and people with pre-existing medical conditions.
If you know or look after someone that may be susceptible to the effects of this hot weather period please help make sure that they stay cool and well, and if possible check in advance that they are prepared for this hot spell.
Please follow this advice to keep cool and comfortable and reduce health risks:
• Shut windows and pull down the shades when it is hotter outside. If it's safe, open them for ventilation when it is cooler.
• Avoid the heat: stay out of the sun and don't go out between 11am and 3pm (the hottest part of the day).
• Keep rooms cool by using shades or reflective material outside the windows. If this isn't possible, use light-coloured curtains and keep them closed (metallic blinds and dark curtains can make the room hotter).
• Have cool baths or showers, and splash yourself with cool water.
• Drink cold drinks regularly, such as water and fruit juice. Avoid tea, coffee and alcohol.
• Plan ahead to make sure you have enough supplies, such as food, water and any medications you need.
• Identify the coolest room in the house so you know where to go to keep cool.
• Wear loose, cool clothing and a hat if you go outdoors.
Also, please don’t forget about the animals in your care and view the top tips for keeping pets cool in hot weather by using the RSPCA link below.
