Good morning,
Thank you for your valuable feedback on our Head of School Highlights videos.

We’re pleased that many families have found them easy to use and accessible, and they also significantly reduce the workload involved in getting updates out from the school office.

That said, we appreciate that videos aren’t for everyone. Going forward, we’ll continue sharing the videos and also provide a written transcript newsletter alongside each one. We’ll utilize our in-house AI tools to help create the written version, and it will be checked by staff before it’s shared.

Please look out for the new transcript newsletteres starting from Monday 28th September.

Thank you again for helping us make our communications work better for everyone.

Kind regards

Helen Butler

Week 3 - Head of School Highlights

19/09/2026

What a fantastic day Year 2 had celebrating our Great Fire of London Day!

The children immersed themselves in history and became true experts on the events of 1666. We have learnt so much during this topic and today was a wonderful way to bring our learning to life.

Throughout the day we enjoyed lots of exciting hands-on activities, including:

🕯️ Making our own candlestick holders just like people would have used in 1666.
🛡️ Designing and creating fire safety plaques to think about how London changed after the Great Fire.
🍞 Baking bread, just as it would have been made in the bakeries of Pudding Lane.
✒️ Writing quill letters to King Charles II, sharing news and ideas about the Great Fire.
The children showed brilliant enthusiasm, creativity and excellent historical knowledge. They confidently talked about how the fire started, how it spread so quickly and how London was rebuilt afterwards.

We are so proud of Year 2 and hope they have enjoyed this memorable day as much as we did!
