Big toddlers Cranleigh have had lots of fun exploring one of the children’s favourite stories, The Very Hungry Caterpillar! 🐛

We sat in a circle and read the book and the children were having fun finding the different foods the caterpillar eats on his journey to becoming a butterfly and feeding him. 😋

We also had an oat caterpillar for the children to explore with scoops and bowls to practice their cutlery control and fine motor skills. The children also did some caterpillar mark making, what a fun morning! 🐛🦋📖

This small world activity helps toddlers explore the Bible story of The Lost Sheep. 🐑 over at Cranleigh

Children can move the sheep through the grass, search for the missing sheep, and retell the story using the figures and natural materials. 🙌🏼

As they play, children develop language, imagination, and early understanding of how the shepherd cared for every sheep. This activity encourages conversations about love, kindness, and how God cares for each one of us. 🐑💚📖

This week in Little Preschool Cranleigh we have been looking at interests of the children.

We have had lots of fun getting messy in our mini car wash, using cloths to clean the mini cars while also cleaning our arms too. They have also done flower playdough, dinosaurs jelly sensory play and lots of animals, as these are things the children wanted and chose to play with this week. 🦖🐯🌻

They have also had baby dressing, food role play and bikes in the garden. 🚲🥄👶

Little toddlers Cranleigh have had a lovely couple of days exploring their senses with a beach and dinosaur spot tray. 🦕 🏖️ 🦖

They have had fun using their hands to explore different textures and using their noses to smell the different scents we have put in them such as rose water,cinnamon and lemon. 👃

They have used fine and gross motor skills whilst exploring, scooping, pouring, pulling and rolling.🙌🏼

This week Big Preschool and Hawks have been learning lots of new skills! 🙌🏼

The children were introduced to whittling, they learnt how to be safe using a sharp tool while making snakes 🐍 ! the children made the most if the wet weather by collecting water and moving it using guttering. 💧

We also found out what happens to chalk when it gets wet. 💦

The children were fantastic problem solvers and communicators.❤️

Last week in the glorious sunshine, the Lavant children enjoyed our car wash activity! 🚘 🧼

Firstly we got all of the cars dirty in the mud and the sand. We then used soap and sponges to scrub them squeaky clean in our DIY car wash! 👏

The children were engaging in conversation throughout play. One child even told me about how they helped Daddy wash his car at home! 🥺

The car wash water activity was a great way to keep cool on a sunny day. ☀️ 💧

This week we are learning all about jobs in Cranleigh Big Pre-School and we have been lucky enough to have 3 secret storyteller's come and tell us about their jobs! 🔥 🧑‍⚕️ 🐕

Tuesday we had Sophie the Vet who told us what her job entails and the different animals she works with. Sophie bought in some equipment and let the children explore these and showed us what they might be used for and then read us a story about a dog.🐶 📖

Wednesday we had Laura the Nurse who bought in some different equipment and read us a story about going to the hospital. The children then used some plastic syringes to such up and sq**rt water into a tray. 💧

Thursday we had Rob the Firefighter who bought in all his fire gear and helmet and put it on to show us what he has to wear if he has to go into a fire. He then read a story about visiting a fire station and all the different jobs he gets called to as a firefighter. 👩‍🚒

We then engaged in lots of different themed activities to do with these jobs 🚒👩‍⚕️🐶

For the last few weeks in Cranleigh Little Toddlers we have explored senses. 👃 👂 👄 🖐️

We have been on a buggy walk to see what transport we could see. We have also explored frozen cornflour and penguins to feel the cold 'snow'. We have also enjoyed citrus and oat transferring. ❄️ 🍋

It was also national been day so we explored some bee playdough where we created our own bees 🐝

This week in Little Preschool Cranleigh we have been enjoying the hot weather and doing lots of sunshine and summer activities. 🌞

We have done lots of water and ice play to cool down as much as possible. The children have also enjoyed sand play and making sand ice creams using spoons and ice cream cones. 🍨❄️💦

The children have also enjoyed lemon and lime play, mixing them and squeezing them in water and squishing them into playdough, smelling the citrus smells. 🍋💦
