Meet Warwick's Community First Responders, the Warwick Medical School students going out into the community to save lives 🚨

Armed with around 30 student volunteers and an electric van stocked with the necessary medical equipment, the Community First Responders have been supporting local ambulance services with calls across the local area - and are often the first people to arrive when someone calls for help.

This initiative provides the volunteers with invaluable hands-on experience that supplements their existing hospital work, building confidence and competency through practical application.

The Community First Responder scheme is an enormous collaborative effort and the product of excellent work from colleagues across University of Warwick, as well as much appreciated support from Warwick Manufacturing Group.

In May, Red Square welcomed a heard of furry friends to help students handle the pressure of exams as part of DeStresstival, our cross-campus wellbeing festival 💜

Stroking and interacting with animals is proven to reduce stress and lift our moods. It can also reduce our blood pressure and aid with social communication to reduce isolation.

Students spent time with a variety of animals from ducklings to donkeys to lift their mood and help them continue working through exam season.

Just in time for World Otter Day, we are thrilled to share that otters have been discovered on campus! 🦦

Using wildlife cameras, the team monitors animal species on campus and they captured a couple of otters marking their territory at Tocil Lake!

“It's a really big achievement for the University. Otters are top-level predators and when they are present, when they stick around, it means the environment is healthy. This means our campus can support enough prey species for such a predator to live permanently at a site. And they have a habitat where they can hunt and rest and reproduce. And that's what we are trying to create on campus.” - Dalma Zsalako, Sustainability Assistant

Excellent job to our Energy and Sustainability at Warwick , Grounds and Gardens and the Waste and Recycling Teams for keeping our campus safe and pleasant for all - including our furry friends!
