🍦 Une glace, s’il vous plaît!
After several weeks of practising how to order ice cream in French, our Year 3 pupils finally got to put their language skills to the test - with real ice cream!
Thanks to the generosity of one of our parents, Mr Criminisi, we had plenty of delicious treats to go around. The whole school learnt some key French phrases in assembly, and an ice cream stall was set up in the reception area.
Our very own French parent, Ms Bescond‑Diniz, joined us to help serve les boules - fraise, vanille, ou menthe and, 20 wonderfully sticky minutes later, every pupil was happily holding a petit pot of ice cream.
Bravo to all our budding linguists, and merci to everyone who helped make this such a sweet success — including Giuseppe! 🍨✨

This week, our Year 6 pupils had the fantastic opportunity to visit the senior school for some hands‑on Food Technology lessons. Under the wonderful guidance of Mrs Heathcote, the children stepped into the shoes of 1940s cooks and whipped up a selection of WW2-inspired recipes using simple, sustainable and ration‑friendly ingredients.
On the menu were:
🥛 Tapioca pudding🍓 Strawberry snow 🍰 Syrup sponge cake
All created using whole milk, sugar and basic, low‑cost carbohydrates, just as families would have done during rationing.
A huge thank you to the amazing senior school team for giving them such a memorable experience.

Last night’s Spring Concert at Butterworth Hall, held in partnership with our Senior School, was truly unforgettable. With the theme A Night at the West End, the evening was filled with excitement, bright smiles and an incredible display of Junior School talent.
From confident choir performances to brave solos and beautifully synchronised ensemble pieces, our pupils shone with courage, commitment and joy.
The concert concluded with a well‑deserved standing ovation from the audience - a wonderful recognition of the hard work and heart our pupils put into every moment.

It’s been a busy week in Year 3 📚⚡📏
In English, pupils shared their favourite books and created their own podcasts, practising clear communication, expressive reading and teamwork.
In Maths, they’ve been measuring lengths in centimetres, metres and kilometres, applying their skills to calculate the perimeter of 2D shapes.
Science kicked off with an exciting electricity topic, as pupils explored simple circuits and the components that make them work.
A week full of curiosity and growing confidence in learning. 🌟
