Hello from the WMS Leadership Programme Team!

After its hiatus last year, the committee have been working hard to bring back the programme for 2023.

Applications to be a WMS Leadership Fellow will open tomorrow so watch this space!

The WMS Leadership Programme 2022/2023 group is currently closed.

The group will become active once the programme commences in January.

We anticipate applications opening in late November, so please keep an eye out for this!

Do you have confidence in your skills as a leader? Have you got a great idea for a project, but you aren't sure how to develop it further? Do you know the best way to manage your society, or to work better with your committee? Do you want to know more about the leadership role of doctors in healthcare? If you answered yes to any of the above, then the WMS Leadership Programme is for you! Over the course of the programme you will develop your personal project proposal, utilising the skills and expertise of your peers, physician mentors, and guest speakers. Through a series of workshops, you will hone your existing skills, explore different managerial styles and consider the future impact of your leadership. By the end of the course, you will have a greater insight into your own leadership qualities, and feel more confident in the development and management of your projects. By learning these skills as medical students, you will feel more equipped to handle the challenges of management in healthcare, and perhaps step up as the future leaders of the NHS.

The WMS Leadership Programme is back!

With the opportunity to attend a series of workshops and meet with a variety of guest speakers, including WMS Alumni Ollie Burton, you’ll gain an understanding of different aspects of leadership in the NHS.

You will also benefit from a Physician Mentor. This mentorship will allow you to work towards a personal project of your choosing, such as leading a society or running your own event, as well as gain great insight into the leadership roles you’re expected to take as junior doctors.

On completion of the course, you will receive a certificate, which can be used for application points in the future!
