Next time you are looking for food and you know you are not physically hungry

Do this….

Firstly, don’t argue with yourself.

Let’s face it going back and forth with a that voice in your head is exhausting

If you want something give yourself permission to have it but before you eat it ask yourself this…..

If I am not physically hungry…..what am I hungry for?

What is it I actually need right now?

Feel into what you are hoping the food will do for you.

Do you need some rest after a long day?

…..A hug?

….To chat things through with a friend?

……Some peace and quiet?

….to bring yourself back into balance?

As a recovered emotional eater and someone who has worked with women for the past 20 years - I know that when our needs are not met, food can feel like the solution…..

But if you want to break free from the starve / binge cycle you have to reconnect with the part of you that is surviving by getting through the day with food…..

I think one of the hardest parts about GLP1s that nobody is talking about…..

is the fear

The fear that if you stop taking them….the weight will come back.

Because for so many women…..
this isn’t just about weight

It’s years of…..
starting again Monday
feeling out of control around food
promising yourself ‘this time will be different
blaming yourself
hating photos
feeling ashamed after eating

So of course women are scared of going backwards

And honestly…
I think that fear tells us something REALLY important

That most women never actually needed more rules

They needed proper support around their relationship with food

Because women don’t just want smaller bodies

They want….
peace
confidence
freedom around food
to stop obsessing
to stop fighting themselves every day

She will never hear me complain about my body

She will not watch me stand in front of a mirror, picking myself apart

She will not learn that women are supposed to spend their lives trying to be smaller

Because it stops with me

She will not grow up believing her worth depends on how she looks

Or thinking she has to be a certain size to be loved, accepted, confident or enough

She won’t learn to hide in the back of photos

To panic before holidays or feel guilty after eating cake

The truth is, many of us were taught exactly this.

So we learned to question ourselves every time we looked in the mirror.

But this was never just a food or weight problem.

It is a societal problem.

A world that taught women their bodies are projects to fix.
That thinner means better.
That confidence is something you earn once you finally change yourself.

And I refuse to pass that belief down to my daughter.

I want her to see a mum who laughs in the photos

Who wears the outfit

Who nourishes her body without guilt

Who knows what she looks like is the least interesting thing about her

Because this is about more than food

It is about breaking cycles

Healing the relationship we have with ourselves

And showing our daughters (and sons) that they never need to shrink themselves to feel worthy.
