📚Book Review📚
Kill Creek by Scott Thomas is sure to give you goosebumps! If you are looking for that classic haunted house tale, this is a great choice!
“At the end of a dark prairie road, nearly forgotten in the Kansas countryside, is the Finch House. For years it has remained empty, overgrown, abandoned. Soon the door will be opened for the first time in decades. But something is waiting, lurking in the shadows, anxious to meet its new guests…
“When best-selling horror author Sam McGarver is invited to spend Halloween night in one of the country’s most infamous haunted houses, he reluctantly agrees. At least he won’t be alone; joining him are three other masters of the macabre, writers who have helped shape modern horror. But what begins as a simple publicity stunt will become a fight for survival.”
Overall, this is a nice, quick read. Easily digestible and full of spooky fun! 👻

📚Book Review: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova takes you on an academic hunt of one of the most notorious villains in history… Dracula 🧛🏻♂️. This book follows a family who is hunting this blood sucking demon, but not in the traditional “Buffy” strong-armed way.
Some of the world’s brightest academics (many are PhD’s) are gifted a sinister copy of an ancient tome with a wood carving of Dracula’s symbol, a dragon, in the center of the book (with no other words or inscriptions). The book leads these inquisitive minds on a hunt for Dracula, even as the hunt becomes dangerous with one of the professors being abducted.
To me, the true “scare tactic” of this book is how these are incredibly intelligent and academic people, who are not swooned by superstition, and they find Dracula to be real and do their best to hunt him down.
Further, due to the nature of the hunt, you also learn so much about the history of the story and the regions involved.
The Historian weaves together mystery, horror, and history into one excellent novel! I would definitely recommend this book ❤️

🎧: Audiobook notes: The narrators do a great job! I am even impressed with the broad spectrum of accents they were able to portray. This was also one I increased the listening speed up to 1.5x and could do so comfortably with the pace of the narration.
