🌟 GCSE Success continues at The Corsham School in 2026 🌟

There are celebrations at The Corsham School today as students receive their GCSE results and mark the end of their Year 11 journey. The Class of 2026 can look back with considerable pride on all they have achieved during their time at the school.

Headteacher Rod Bell said: “Today is an important milestone for our Year 11 students, and I would like to congratulate every one of them on their achievements. Results days are inevitably filled with a mixture of excitement, anticipation, and nerves, so it has been particularly lovely to see so many happy and relieved students celebrating with their friends, families, and teachers this morning.

This cohort has had to navigate a very different educational experience from the one any of us would have wished for them. Their primary to secondary transition years were affected by the Covid pandemic, with disruption to normal schooling, periods of remote education and the wider uncertainty that surrounded those years. They have nevertheless continued to move forward, showing maturity, determination, and an impressive capacity to overcome setbacks. Today’s results reflect that sustained effort.

We are incredibly proud of the breadth of achievement across this year group. As a comprehensive school, we believe passionately that success looks different for every young person. For some, today represents outstanding academic attainment; for others, it represents achieving a qualification they have worked exceptionally hard to secure or overcoming personal obstacles along the way. Every student should recognise and celebrate their own achievement.

What makes us particularly proud is that the Class of 2026 have contributed so much more to our school than their examination results alone. They have taken part in activities, supported one another, represented the school, and contributed to the wider community in extraordinary ways not measured by certificates. The qualities they have developed; resilience, responsibility, confidence, kindness, and independence will be just as important to their future success as the grades they receive today.

I would also like to place on record my sincere thanks to our staff. The commitment of teachers and support staff, both inside and outside the classroom, has been extraordinary. Their encouragement, high expectations and belief in our young people have made a real difference. I am equally grateful to parents and carers, whose support and encouragement have been so important throughout the challenges and pressures of the GCSE years.

For many of our students, today is not an ending but the beginning of the next chapter. We are looking forward to welcoming the majority of the cohort back as they return to Corsham 6th in September, where they will continue to develop academically and personally. I also wish those progressing to other colleges, sixth forms, apprenticeships, training, or employment every success as they take their next steps.

Whatever the future holds for them, I hope our students leave today knowing that they have achieved something significant. They have worked hard, faced challenges, and come through them together. We are immensely proud of the Class of 2026 and excited to see where their talents, ambitions and character take them next.”

Another look into our Year 8 students fantastic, fast-paced day taking part in a Rapid Prototyping Workshop, kindly hosted by the James Dyson Foundation!

The students rolled up their sleeves and threw themselves into some brilliant, hands-on engineering challenges. It was incredible to see their ideas come to life as they designed, built, and tweaked their prototypes under pressure.

Our big hope for the day was to show these young minds just how creative and exciting engineering can be. We wanted to spark a new curiosity, but most importantly, we wanted our students to walk away with a real belief in themselves and their own incredible problem-solving abilities. Seeing their confidence grow as their designs took shape was absolutely brilliant. 🌟

The SWAP Team (Student Wellbeing Ambassador Programme Team) held their inaugural 'An Afternoon With....' this hot Friday afternoon with a small cohort of Year 7 students to aid their transition into Year 8.

The Team have been trained to mentor students and know how to signpost any issues to staff members.

The afternoon consisted of icebreakers, probing questions, discussions and action planning. The Team will buddy up with the Year 7 cohort next year to continue their supportive work.

They have shown themselves to be an empathetic and reassuring presence in the school.

Our Year 9 and 10 rounders team qualified for the Wiltshire County finals this week in hot, sunny conditions!

After six matches of teamwork and resilience, the team progressed to the third medal final.

It wasn't meant to be, but the team stayed determined and played hard to the last ball!

Well done to the whole team, finishing 4th across the whole of Wiltshire!
