I am an Ofsted registered childminder based in the woodnewton area. I live with my two daughters Daisy and Dolly and our dog Troy. It can be so rewarding .
I have vast experience working with children, I worked for the council as a play leader for many years and have since worked in nurseries and a creche. I also believe there is no better experience than being a mother yourself. I understand what a huge responsibility it is to take care of someone else's children and how important it is to work in partnership with the parents/carers to ensure that
all children are kept safe and happy at all times. I follow the EYFS and link all the children's learning and development to this. Play provides many opportunities for learning. I have a huge selection of toys both indoors and outdoors in my setting. Children will be free to decide what to play with. I will also offer organised activities at home including baking, arts and crafts, painting and messy play. The Children's centres in Corby offer some great groups and we will be visiting some of these every week. We enjoy exploring the local wildlife, nature reserves and play areas at East Carlton Park, Fermyne woods, Fineshade woods and Wicksteed park. The library at Corby Cube offers some lovely groups, we attend rhyme time on a Tuesday. For soft play activities we attend riverside hub, Cheeky Monkees or the Wicksteed park soft play area. Corby international pool offers a lovely splash pool open every day. I can take two children swimming at a time with floatation devices. For animal lovers we can visit West Lodge farm. We also go on lots of walks through the nearby woods and around the boating lake to see the ducks. All activities are included in the fees. However occasionally I may offer additional days out at a cost but this will always be discussed with parents/carers first. I am an animal loving setting which the children just love and are very much involved with . We have Disney the dog, an Irish water spaniel who looks very much like a furry bear. Living in the house we also have a rabbit honey and three girl guinea pigs , rose , strawberry and Cinderella. In the garden we have two boy guinea pigs buzz and woody. I think it’s an amazing thing to teach children about loving , caring, respecting and taking care of animals.
