⚔️ Push of Pike

In the 17th century, opposing blocks of pikemen would advance with their pikes levelled at shoulder height, jabbing at each other until the formations collided.

When the lines locked together, chaos erupted.
▪️ The front ranks fought at extremely close range, discarding their pikes for swords.
▪️ Rear ranks added weight and pressure to the push.
▪️ Packed so tightly together, some soldiers were crushed or even suffocated by the sheer mass of bodies.

The struggle continued until one formation finally routed or fled—often leaving devastating casualties behind.

Due to the ongoing dry weather conditions we have been experiencing, The Sealed Knot Society Official has made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming August Bank Holiday event at Great Tew.

This decision has been made due to the current drought conditions and the increased risk of fires. The safety of our attendees, members and everyone involved in the event remains our highest priority.
