Fantastic news! 🌟 Hazel Leys Academy is currently 2nd on the Summer Reading Challenge leaderboard at Corby Library– an incredible achievement that reflects the enthusiasm and dedication of our young readers and supportive families. We are so proud of everyone who has taken part so far!
Let's keep the momentum going and see if we can climb to the top spot! If your child hasn't completed the challenge yet, there's still time to get involved. Keep reading, logging books, and visiting the library to help Hazel Leys Academy reach number one. Every book counts, and every reader makes a difference!
Taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge is easy:
Just pop along to your local library and sign up for free.
Each child gets a free sticker booklet when they sign up.
They are encouraged to read, or listen to, 6 books over the summer.
For each of the 6 books they receive a sticker to complete the booklet and children receive a certificate and medal upon completing the challenge.
The challenge closes on Saturday 12th September - there is still plenty of time to get involved!
Here’s our schools leaderboard as it stands! 👇 Corby Library run a ‘top schools’ competition as part of the Summer Reading Challenge: we are asking each child which school they go to, and the school that has the most children taking part in the reading challenge wins this cool trophy! 🏆
1. Studall Infant Academy Studfall Junior and Infant Academy
2. Hazel Leys Academy
3. Rockingham Primary School
4. St Patrick's Catholic Primary
5. Corby Primary Academy
6. Brigstock Latham's CE Primary
7. Corby Old Village Primary School
8. Priors Hall
9. Woodnewton
10. Our Lady of Walsingham Primary
Stanion Primary have won it four years in a row – can they make it five in a row, or will a different school get their name engraved and take the crown for 2026? Don’t forget that the final figures will be calculated taking into account the % of finishers, so there’s still everything to play for! When more children finish the Summer Reading Challenge, the leaderboard can still change…
To help their school win, your child just needs to take part in – and complete – Read to the Beat, this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. For those unfamiliar with this – the Summer Reading Challenge is a Reading Agency initiative in which libraries all over the country take part. It doesn’t finish until *12th September*, so there’s still time to take part! Children are challenged to read 6 books during the summer holidays, collecting stickers for each book, to win a medal and a certificate at the end! It’s loads of fun and great for literacy. We offer activities throughout which fit into the theme, so children can keep busy, have fun and be creative – and they’re all FREE to take part. 😃🙌

🌟What a truly spectacular performance! 🌟 We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils for their outstanding production of 'The Greatest Show'. Their confidence, talent, enthusiasm and teamwork shone brightly on stage, reflecting just how much they have grown throughout the year.
Over their time at Hazel Leys Academy, from their first day to their last, they have blossomed into kind, resilient and ambitious young people who have made the most of every opportunity and risen to every challenge.
As they prepare to leave us and begin their next exciting adventure at secondary school, we wish each and every one of them happiness, success and endless opportunities for the future. Congratulations, Year 6, you have been amazing and we know your greatest show is only just beginning! 🌟

Year 2 have worked hard this term to create a class mural. They printed fish using tiles, made seaweed prints with bubble wrap, and learned weaving techniques to create textured seaweed. Finally we worked as a class to put all of the parts together into a composition we felt was most effective. Well done Year 2! Primary Knowledge Curriculum

🌟Today, we were proud to celebrate the many children who have achieved 97% or 100% attendance this term, as well as those who have maintained an amazing 100% attendance since September. Their commitment and resilience are fantastic achievements and we are delighted to recognise their efforts.
As part of the celebration, the names of all children with 100% attendance since September were entered into a prize draw, with one lucky winner receiving a £25 voucher. Congratulations to the winner! Children who have achieved 100% attendance this term will also enjoy a special treat of biscuits and juice.
Every day in school provides valuable opportunities for learning, building friendships, developing confidence and being part of our school community. Thank you to all our parents and carers for your continued support in helping children attend school regularly whenever possible. 🌟 Greenwood Academies Trust

Over the last few weeks lots of our children have visited Corby Library to learn more about David Attenborough. As part of our sessions we had the opportunity to create a leaf promise to help our planet. These promises have now been turned into a display for the public which you can see displayed in the library. Well done Hazel Leys. Greenwood Academies Trust BBC

Our talented pupils took to the stage with confidence, enthusiasm, and pride, demonstrating the fantastic progress they have made in their Rocksteady Music School journeys. Parents were treated to a wonderful performance showcasing new instrumental skills, rhythm, teamwork and stage presence, alongside their growing confidence as performers. It was inspiring to see the hard work, dedication and creativity of our young musicians come to life in such an enjoyable celebration of music and performance art. A huge well done to all of our performers for entertaining us and making us so proud!
