'Celebrated Cookbooks' Now On Sale
A limited number of copies of the recipe book 'Celebrated Cookbooks' can now be purchased from Derrychrin for £12:99. This is a recipe book filled with over 80 recipes- starters, mains, sides and desserts, kindly donated by local families.Copies can also be purchased on the Amazon website, though buying a copy from the school will save the cost of postage. 📣 Francis Lagan All County Football Finals Night – New Date Confirmed 📣
We are incredibly proud of our boys’ team, who will be competing in the Francis Lagan All County Football Finals Night, which has now been rescheduled to Wednesday, 24th June, in Owenbeg.
This is a fantastic achievement for the boys, and we would love to see as many members of our school community as possible come along and support them on this special occasion.
Let’s get behind our boys and show them our full support as they represent the school with pride!

Lá Spóirt 2026 (Sports Day)
Maith sibh go léir! (Well done everybody) This year we combined our Fun Races and Traditional Sports events into one exciting day. Despite a showery start, the weather improved and everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the activities. A sincere thank you to Ballinderry Shamrocks GAC for once again providing excellent facilities for the event. We would also like to thank Mrs McGuckin, David Mulgrew and all of our staff for their hard work in organising and running the day. Special thanks to Margaret, Mandy and Catriona for preparing and delivering a hot lunch for everyone. Finally, thank you to all the parents and family members who came along to support and encourage the children. Your support is greatly appreciated and helped make the day such a success. Comhghairdeas! 👏👏👏

P1 Sports Day
We had a great day despite a bad start with the weather. The sun came out and the all the fun, running, racing, jumping, kicking, balancing etc started! Very tired but happy faces on the way back to school. 🏆

Cash for Clobber 2026
Derrychrin Primary School have arranged a collection on Tuesday 23rd June in aid of Cash for Clobber. Cookstown Textile Recyclers can collect all unwanted clothing as well as pairs of shoes, handbags and belts. The bags will be weighed and the value of the weight will raise money for the school. Suitable quality clothing will also be exported to developing countries. The attached letter will provide the full details of the Cash for Clobber charity.Please have contributed bags in before Tuesday 23rd June, as this will be the only collection date for our school.

Please see message below from Doire Cumann na mBunscol: Following discussions with Derry GAA and due to Health & Safety both the Girls and Boys Francis Lagan Football Finals planned for today and this evening are postponed until further notice.
Whilst we regret having to make this decision we have no other alternative when we consider player welfare and the current state of the pitches at Owenbeg.
We thank you all for your understanding and support at this time. 🔴⚪️

‘TAKE 5 School’ Platinum Award
We are delighted to announce that Derrychrin Primary School has been awarded Platinum Level as a TAKE 5 School. This prestigious recognition reflects our sustained commitment to promoting wellbeing and celebrates the progress made throughout our TAKE 5 journey over the past four years.
During this time, a wide range of wellbeing initiatives have been embedded across school life, supporting pupils’ emotional health and fostering a positive, nurturing environment for all.
Our TAKE 5 and Being Well, Doing Well lead teacher, Mrs McGuckin, alongside Mr McElroy, recently attended a celebration event with primary and post-primary schools to mark this achievement and formally receive the award.
As a school, we remain committed to further developing awareness of CLANG and the TAKE 5 Steps to Wellbeing, helping pupils to recognise opportunities to support their own wellbeing and that of others. This work also extends to staff, parents and the wider school community. The TAKE 5 framework complements the EA’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2020), which promotes key themes including Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies, Social Health, Giving Back, and Financial Wellbeing.
By continuing to develop these principles, we aim to support everyone in recognising stress and anxiety, while equipping them with practical strategies to manage challenges effectively.
We are extremely proud of this achievement.

Francis Lagan All County Football Finals Night
We are incredibly proud of our boys’ team, who will compete in the Francis Lagan All County Football Finals Night tomorrow Thursday 11th June in Owenbeg (7pm).
Fixtures have now been released, and our boys will play: Derrychrin PS v Termoncarnice PS (Division 1 Quarter-Final).
We would love to see strong support from our school community on the night.
