I NEVER COOK COMPLICATED RECIPES⁣ 👩‍🍳

That's the reality, I don't like spending hours cooking but I do enjoy good food. ⁣
This is what healthy eating should look like. You should not have to:⁣

❌ Spend hours in the kitchen (unless you are batch cooking, which will help you save tons of time during the busier days!)⁣

❌ Dislike what you eat, or feel like it's a torture (because that's what fad diets make you feel!)⁣

❌ Struggle to find the ingredients for recipe you find online⁣

❌ Use expensive ingredients that you might not even like or ever use again⁣

Instead, HEALTHY EATING should make you feel:⁣

✅ Happy, because you can eat all the food you love⁣

✅ Satisfied, because it is not about limiting your calories but knowing what your body needs⁣

✅ Energized, because the food is supposed to fuel you, not put you in hibernation ⁣

And this Butternut Squash Thai Curry recipe does this and more! ⁣

You can find it on my website and make sure to tag me if you try it 🧡⁣

GOING VEGAN IS LIKE COMMITTING TO A DOG 🐶 ⁣

Going vegan is a big commitment. It is almost like adopting a dog, because although you know there is always the option of giving him up, you really don’t want to and that would be the last option if everything else fails.⁣

❓So how do we make sure that our commitments don’t fail, whether to a dog or to a lifestyle?⁣

1️⃣ RESEARCH⁣
First of all, make sure you do all the research in advance. Research what going vegan means, what it takes, how to do it. Find answers to all of your questions and always keep an eye out for new things and information. Because I’m telling you, there is A LOT to research 🤯⁣

2️⃣ LEARN⁣
Just like with a dog if you are a first time owner, you will need to learn many things about how to take care of the dog and how to communicate with him. In the same way, you will need to learn many things when it comes to veganism: how to prepare healthy and balanced meals, how to make them tasty, what ingredients are not vegan and how to communicate with people about your lifestyle choice 🌱⁣

3️⃣ TEST⁣
Once you researched and learned a couple of things, it is time to test them. Before adopting a dog, you usually go to the shelter to meet him so that you two get used to each other and see if you are a good fit. In the same way with a lifestyle change, test different foods because I know for sure you will not like everything. Test different recipes for the same thing, because one ingredient can sometimes make a huge difference. And test different communication strategies as well, because each person will react differently 🤷‍♀️⁣

➡️ After Researching, Learning and Testing, you will be able to make the choice of adopting a vegan lifestyle (or a dog) knowing full well what you are facing, with almost zero chances of giving it up 💪⁣

SUPPLEMENTS YOU NEED TO TAKE! 💊⁣

Are you new to the vegan lifestyle?⁣
Are you confused with all the information and articles about supplements you find online? ⁣
Are you feeling overwhelmed with all the nutritional info and supplements everyone is telling you to buy?⁣

🌟I HAVE A SECRET FOR YOU🌟⁣

You don't need to buy any supplement, multivitamin, protein powder or magic pill!⁣ 🤯

Well, except one, maybe two, if you live in a place that doesn't get much sun in the winter months ⛄⁣

As you probably guessed from the picture, the only supplement that every vegan and vegetarian (and sometimes also omnivores!) needs to get is 💊VIT B12💊⁣

Moreover, if you live in a place like the UK or Canada and you don't get at least 20 minutes of sun exposure daily, you will also need to take some ☀️VIT D☀️⁣

Everything else, including⁣
✅ Iron⁣
✅ Iodine⁣
✅ Omega 3&6⁣
✅ Calcium⁣
✅ Protein ⁣
etc etc...⁣

you will find in your daily diet IF it is well planned, varied and balanced! 🌱⁣

This is why I always stress how important a whole food plant based diet is when going vegan, because all the processed junk food doesn't have half of the nutrients of a diet that consist of REAL food! ⁣

DO YOU ALREADY TAKE VIT B12 & VIT D?? Let me know in the comments 👇👇⁣

Disclaimer: if you were prescribed additional supplement after speaking to a professional then of course keep taking them 💚

DON’T FOCUS ON THE SINGLE NUTRIENTS BUT ON YOUR NUTRITION AS A WHOLE

I always get asked:

❓Where do you get your protein from?
❓Where do you get iron from?
❓What about vitamin [enter any]?

And I totally get it, these are very fair questions and I myself asked them more than once 👀

The reality is that there is no perfect food(s) that will give you all what you need in terms of that nutrient 🙅‍♀️

Just think for a moment about your partner or your best friend. They will have a lot of good features, both physical and character-wise, but none of them will be perfect. But all these imperfect features make the person perfect in our eyes 👯

The same thing happens with foods. There is no single food that contains the perfect amount of a nutrient, but a well planned and balanced diet will provide you the perfect nourishment 🙌💪

So eat as much of a variety as you can and don’t focus on so-called “super-foods” or single ingredients rich in da-da-da from a google list.

On that note, what did you eat today? 🌱

DON'T START YOUR VEGAN JOURNEY ON THE WRONG FOOD (pun intended! 😜)⁣

Many vegans might disagree with me, but it's better to go vegan little by little eating whole foods rather than to do it overnight and fill your belly with processed vegan junk food. ⁣

Why? I'm glad you asked.⁣

1️⃣ Vegan junk food is still junk food and it's not much healthier than whole animal products.⁣

Processed food usually contains a lot less nutrients and those few nutrients are not well absorbed by our body because they don't come as a nutrient package but just as single nutrients. There is a reason why whole foods are better and it's because nature designed them in the perfect ways to nourish our body in the best way.⁣

2️⃣ Vegan junk food can become addictive.⁣

Just like any other junk food. What makes it addictive is all the additives like salt, saturated fat and sugars as they create a pleasure sensation in our brain. And once our brain gets used to processed food, it becomes very hard to give it up later.⁣

3️⃣ Vegan processed food is more expensive.⁣

Not only it is less healthy, but is also costs more! Yes, it can be convenient because it doesn't require much time nor knowledge to prepare, but it's going to be detrimental to your health and wallet in the long run.⁣

4️⃣ Failing to start with the right food can be detrimental to your health. ⁣

Not only physical health, but also mental health. Just notice how much easier it is to create new habits rather than giving up bad ones! If you put more effort at the beginning by doing it slowly and learning more about nutrition from the start while cooking the right foods instead of relying on vegan junk, the lifestyle change will be much more sustainable for the long run. ⁣

PS. Don't get me wrong, vegan junk food is amazing, but you should not rely on it for your daily meals 💚

STOP COUNTING CALORIES AND START COUNTING PLANTS 🌱 ⁣

📌 SHARE & SAVE this post to help it reach more people who need to see this!⁣

How many plants are you eating throughout the day? Have you ever counted how many different plants you ate instead of thinking about how many calories you consumed?⁣

In fact, if you have a healthy and balanced diet, there is no need to focus on calories and worry about overeating. ⁣

And by healthy diet I mean a plant based one focused on whole foods instead of processed cr@p!⁣

Build your meals around a variety of vegetables, including a grain and a legume 🌾⁣

✅ Pick different colors of veg! ⁣

✅ Choose veg that are in season (ideal)⁣

✅ Build your meals around the ingredients and not vice versa⁣

Great examples of meals that include many vegetables are:⁣

🥙 Roasted veg with mashed potatoes⁣
🍲 Stir-fry⁣
🍜 Veggie soup⁣
🥘 Curry and dhal ⁣
🥗 Salads⁣

SOME VEGANS REALLY MAKE ME ANGRY!⁣

Recently I have been criticised by some vegans because I went vegan for the wrong reasons. ⁣

This made me sad, not because I took it personally but because these comments are the exact reason why many people don’t want to be associated with vegans and see vegans as ‘extremists’.⁣

I was introduced to Veganism because I was struggling with my health. I had severe anaemia and I was underweight before I decided that I needed to take my health in my own hands and stop listening to doctors telling me to eat more red meat and animal protein.⁣

I went vegan both for my health and the animals, however without my health issues I would probably not have even looked for an alternative lifestyle.⁣

My health problems forced me to make a connection and that connection allowed me to become a more compassionate person who's on a mission to help as many people to go vegan, to create a thriving world for my children and for the future generations.⁣

People go vegan for different reasons. Some start with health, some with the environmental cause and others for the animals. I think we can all agree that the more people go vegan, the better, no matter for what reason. The result will still be less animal killing!⁣

I WANT TO APOLIGIZE for all the vegans that criticised you and made you feel like your reasons were not good enough.⁣

Real vegans are compassionate people, both towards the animals but also towards other HUMANS.⁣

INVITED TO A NON-VEGAN GATHERING?⁣

With the pandemic still going on, I’m sure many of us are aching to go back to socialising and meeting up with friends and family.⁣

Some of you have been vegan for some time while others went vegan recently, so here are some tips that all of you can implement next time you visit someone.⁣

✅ First of all, offer to bring some food. Bring enough so that both you and others can enjoy it.⁣

❌ You don’t have to mention you are vegan right away, especially if you are new to this lifestyle. So if you are offered something made with animal products, simply decline and don’t make a fuss about it⁣

✅ Ask the host what they are preparing in advance. If it’s bbq, you can bring your own plant based burgers and sausages to grill. If it’s pizza, then prepare or buy some vegan cheese to put on your pizza. And so on…⁣

❌ Don’t go empty handed. This is a great occasion to introduce others to veganism, so prepare an appetizer (like this one in the picture), a pasta or potato salad, or a sweet dessert to share with everyone. Don’t mention it’s vegan from the start, but say it at the end. Some people can have a strong opinion about veganism and won’t even try if they know before.⁣

✅ Have fun! I know it can be hard to enjoy your meal when other people around you are eating animal products, but you need to show others that vegans are not a bore and that you can still enjoy yourself, even without meat/cheese etc.⁣

Do you know someone who is a new vegan? Share these tips with them 💚⁣

PS. Swipe left for the recipe and save this post for inspiration 😉

LET ME SHARE MY STORY WITH YOU...

Going vegan was the most difficult thing I ever did.

Before I went vegan, I was an avid carnivore, no meal was complete without it’s fair share of meat.

I ate meat literally three times a day.

Despite this, I was severely underweight and I was suffering from anaemia. This led to depression, anxiety and loneliness. Those were dark times for me.

My health issues, should’ve been cured by a high protein diet with plenty of red meat, but things only got worse and I started being more and more depressed, to the point of thinking that maybe it was time to put a premature end to it all…

Then I discovered an alternative: VEGANISM.

It was an extremely challenging choice that I delayed for months whilst I spent hours every week doing research into how to give up meat in a healthy way.
I even spent hundreds on dieticians to ensure I ate all the right foods; I was already anaemic so I couldn’t afford any more deficiencies!

So, after months of research I gave up meat, but even then, it took me several more months of experimenting and research before I was able to start eating a healthy, balanced and varied diet.

Today, I am cured from my anaemia, my weight is normal, I have a loving partner and pet, all those negatives thoughts have gone away and I live the life of my dreams.

Maybe you are thinking that going vegan is right for you?

Maybe you have just gone vegan but are not sure who to trust?
