This week, Year 3 and 4 took their sketchbooks outside to observe and capture our school environment. They focused on mastering their shading techniques to create depth and add beautiful texture to their drawings 🎨🖌️🖼️

In Year 5 and 6, the children have been exploring colour theory as part of their art topic. We looked at primary, secondary and tertiary colours, as well as complementary colours. We explored how mixing complementary colours can cause a neutralising effect, creating more realistic, desaturated colours to use in their art work. 🎨🖌️🖼️

In Reception and Nursery we have been discovering the story of the Gingerbread Man, after we had a surprising visitor to our unit! After lunch one day we discovered a set of flour footprints leading to some ingredients for making gingerbread. Some of us drew pictures of what we thought the Gingerbread Man looked like. Others helped to make some gingerbread biscuits with the ingredients. All of us enjoyed tasting our creations. We’re on the lookout to see if he’ll make a return.... 🍪

In PE, Year 1 and 2’s topic is OAA. We played a game called ‘Symbol Match Relay’ where we had to find matching symbols linked to maps. We know from our Geography sessions, that a map symbol is a little picture that helps us know what’s on a map. We were split into our house groups and listened for the symbol we had to find turning each flashcard over until we found the one called out.

We were so interested and good at this that the pictures are slightly blurry… sorry! 🗺️🏃🏼‍♂️

In French, Year 5 and 6 have been learning how to discuss different types of weather. We did an excellent job of delivering a weather report to the class, entirely in French. Wow! ☀️❄️⚡️☁️🇫🇷

Since being back at school, Early Years have loved rediscovering Forest Fridays. We have collected conkers, made leaf piles, cooked in the forest kitchen, painted sheets with mud and used our bodies to climb and explore. We have even had a go at making self portraits using all of the natural materials we can find. 🍁🍂
