Are you passionate about the outdoors and inspiring people through adventure? We're looking for an experienced and qualified Low Bank Ground Coordinator to join our growing Be Well Outdoors team.
This is an exciting opportunity to combine leadership, safety management, and outdoor activity delivery in a unique and rewarding role. You'll play a key part in ensuring the safe and effective operation of Low Bank Ground, while delivering engaging adventure experiences for schools, community groups and the public.
What you'll do
• Lead on health and safety compliance, risk assessments and equipment inspections.
• Coordinate staff deployment, training and operational delivery.
• Deliver high-quality outdoor activities, including water sports, bushcraft, archery, raft building and team challenges.
• Maintain activity equipment and ensure compliance with governing body standards such as AALA and RYA.
• Support business growth, financial targets and continuous service improvement.
• Mentor and support full-time, part-time, casual staff and volunteers.
• Work across the wider Outdoor Adventure Service, including Low Bank Ground, Hinning House, Scotman's Flash and other outdoor venues.
What we're looking for
• Significant experience delivering outdoor education and adventure activities.
• Hold the RYA Senior Instructor Award in Sailing (essential).
• At least two of the following qualifications:
o Kayak/Canoe Coach or Open Water Leader
o RYA Dinghy Instructor
o Powerboat Instructor
o Mountain Leader
o SPA
• First Aid at Work qualification.
• Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.
• Experience working with schools, community groups, young people and vulnerable adults.
• Full UK driving licence.

🌟 What an adventure! 🌟

Last month we loved welcoming a brilliant group of young people from Leigh Youth Hub here to Low Bank Ground for their SEN residential trip 🧡

From 🌊 kayaking and paddleboarding to 🧗 rock climbing and 🧭 geocaching, every day was packed with fun, challenges and plenty of “I did it!” moments 🙌

The best part? Watching everyone grow in confidence, cheer each other on, and try things they never thought possible ✨

Huge shoutout to our amazing team (and the fantastic youth workers who made it all happen 👏) - we can’t wait to do it all again!

Busy first day for this keen bunch with paddling on the lake, seeing Bluebird k7 on the water and meeting up with Coniston Mountain Rescue Team to learn more about safty in the mountains and an evening walk.

🌞 LOW BANK GROUND - SUMMER ACTIVITY CLUB 🌞
Outdoor adventures for 7-11 year olds this August!

Looking for a fun, active day for your child this summer? Our Summer Activity Club offers a full day of exciting, instructor-led lake adventures on the stunning shores of Coniston.

From kayaking and canoeing to sailing and paddleboarding, every day is packed with opportunities to build confidence, make new friends, and enjoy the great outdoors.

📍 Dates & Times
📅 Monday - Friday
📆 3-7 & 10-14 August
⏰ 10am - 4pm

💧 What’s included:
✅ Full day of supervised water-based activities
✅ Experienced, qualified instructors
✅ All equipment provided
✅ Safe, supportive, and fun environment
✅ Incredible lakeside setting at Low Bank Ground

❓What to bring:
🥪 A packed lunch, a drink, and suitable outdoor clothing.

💷 Pricing:
• £15 per day (for families in the funded South Cumbria / Coniston area, supported by the Rawdon Smith Trust)
• £45 per day (for those outside the funded area - everyone welcome!)

🌲 Who’s it for?
🏃🏻Children aged 7-11 who love being active, trying new things, and exploring the outdoors.
