This video was created by Dr Richard Slinger, Consultant Clinical Psychologist – Lancashire Emotional Health and Wellbeing in Education Settings, Health Innovation One, Lancaster University, following his visit to our school.

Richard spent time visiting our school, interviewing me, and — most importantly — meeting our wonderful children and staff. He was so pleased with what he saw and heard, and the video beautifully captures some of the work we are so passionate about. 🌟

We are incredibly proud that this work formed part of the evidence contributing to us becoming one of the first schools in Lancashire to achieve Compassionate Hub status. 💙

Even more amazingly, we are one of only 6 schools across Lancashire to have achieved this recognition! 🎉

A couple of days ago, the DfE published The Back-to-School Reset Guide — practical advice from psychologist Dr Martha Deiros Collado to help parents support children as they return to school.

It covers things like:

🕐 Getting back into school routines
🎒 Building independence through small choices
💬 Talking about worries without making predictions
👋 Making those tricky goodbyes easier
❤️ Helping children manage anxiety about the new school year
🧘 Giving them time to unwind after school
If you and your child are are finding the return to school particularly challenging, this may help.
