Bream Flower Show 2026, Saturday 15 August 2026
The summer heat continued for this year’s Bream Flower Show, held at the Sports Centre field on Saturday 15 August. Canopy was delighted to be part of the event, bringing some hands-on creative activities to the afternoon.
With additional funding from the Co-operative Society and Create Gloucestershire through Dream for Bream, we were able to support an exciting automata workshop led by artist Tanya G G. Tanya had created a range of new automata pieces especially for the day, giving visitors the chance to see how they worked and have a go at making their own moving creations.
Alongside this, Canopy volunteers ran a natural materials crown-making activity. Using materials gathered from the forest, including twisted willow, ivy, larch cones and pieces of fir, people made their own crowns using raffia and jute.
Both activities were busy throughout the afternoon, with children and adults working alongside each other and getting stuck into the making. It was great to see people proudly heading home with their finished automata and wearing their woodland crowns.
Our colourful Canopy stall, complete with flags, bunting and banners, was easy to spot among the other stalls. As well as offering free creative activities, our volunteers chatted to local people about Canopy’s events, Creative Walks and artist-led workshops. Several visitors signed up to our mailing list so they can keep up with what’s coming next.
A big thank you to the Bream Gardening Team, and particularly Kathryn, for all their help and support with the arrangements. It was a lovely community event and we were pleased to be part of it.
