We are a community group for families, founded in 2014, which is hosted by a local mum who is Volunteer Ranger and primary school practitioner. We meet in the Visitor Centre of High Woods Country Park to get together and allow children free play in nature. Babies and children of all ages are welcome to play with whatever they find in the woods, make friends and have fun under their adults’ supervi
sion. Grown-ups enjoy socialising in the fresh air and the beautiful surroundings of the country park. We usually meet on Thursdays mornings in school holidays. We use the Forest School area, which is behind the Visitor Centre car park, please walk along the path for a few minutes until you see the sign (picture below) and then turn right. There is no end time, and families may stay on in the woods, have a picnic, or explore the playgrounds. Ample parking is available for only 50p for two hours. The Visitor Centre is served by local buses 8, 61 and 65. Please take your rubbish with you when you leave. Please only take photos of your own children, and do not post pictures of others on social media. We meet at all weathers, so please dress appropriately. It is possible to bring pushchairs but you may be more comfortable using slings in the woods. The area is routinely checked and risk assessed, but parents / carers are responsible for their children’s safety. Events are advertised regularly here and in the Visitor Centre.
