People often fear financial bankruptcy, but the real bankruptcy is the bankruptcy of the mind—when we stop learning, stop questioning, and only use our eyesight and outlook instead of our insight.

I recently attended a five-day Advanced Claude Workshop, where we explored prompt engineering, Claude Code, agentic AI workflows and API development.
As a practical project, we developed an AI-powered Notes API using agents. The API could create, organise, search and summarise notes using natural-language instructions. We also explored testing, documentation, authentication and CRUD operations.
One of the most fascinating parts of the workshop was seeing how quickly AI technology is progressing. Building an API through agentic workflows was a truly memorable experience and showed me how AI agents can support the complete development process, from planning and coding to testing and documentation.
We also examined the differences between high-capability reasoning models and smaller, faster models. More advanced models can support complex reasoning, planning and orchestration, while lightweight models may be better suited to faster, task-specific and cost-effective applications.
I am excited to see how Claude, agentic systems and other emerging AI models will shape the next generation of software development.

Celebrating Another Coding Academy Cohort 🎓💻

Today marks the completion of another incredible Coding Academy journey.

Over the past weeks, these learners have worked incredibly hard to develop practical technical skills including:

• SQL & Database Development
• Python Programming
• API Development
• Full Stack Application Development
• Software Testing and Problem Solving

But this course has always been about more than just coding.

Alongside technical expertise, our learners have strengthened the professional skills that employers value most:

* Communication
* Teamwork
* Critical Thinking
* Presentation Skills
* Professionalism
* Confidence
* Resilience
* Continuous Learning

Watching many of these learners grow from beginners into confident developers has been one of the most rewarding parts of my role.

A sincere thank you to FinTech Wales for funding and supporting this initiative, helping provide opportunities that genuinely change lives and open doors into the digital sector.

Thank you also to Cardiff and Vale College and ALS Training for their continued collaboration in delivering programmes that equip learners with industry-ready skills.

Congratulations to every learner who completed the programme. This certificate represents much more than course completion. It represents dedication, perseverance, and the beginning of a new professional journey.

Keep learning.
Keep building.
Keep solving problems.

The tech industry needs people like you.

There is no greater reward for an educator than seeing a learner achieve their goals and then hearing that your guidance made a difference.
