...a couple of weeks ago we celebrated the life of former Reed's Bursar, Major John Tatham, with the dedication of a sapling overlooking Big Side...his most favourite spot.

The Headmaster and his wife welcomed John's widow, Annie, together with Richard (John's son), Alan Bott (John's successor as Bursar), and three-fifths of the Newbold family! As well as Georgie (Bl21) & Tilly (Bl25) Newbold being Old Reedonians, they are also great-nieces of John's: it was only Max who was sadly missing (but we found his photo on the wall)!

It was a touching and emotional afternoon but one we think the Major would have approved of 😍

It was double header day...
..when we had visits from two lovely Bristowe ORs!

In fact, you could almost count it as three, because Jess Weedon (Br12) found artwork of her sister, Heni (Br14), still on the walls in Mr Cole's office 😂. Jess was back to have a chat about her future career journey, while Mille Robinson (Br23) kindly brought in some fab Reed's kit that we repurposed.

Isn't it just great when our ORs' first port of call is their alma mater, Reed's School 😍

We ended a busy week on Friday with a visit to Totnes in Devon where we are joined by a faithful group of ORs, who were educated there when Reed's was evacuated during WW2.

With all now in their nineties, their enduring connection to the School and each other is, perhaps, the best possible demonstration of what we mean when we say that Reed’s is ‘a community for life’.

Just a few snapshots from last night's Class of 2026 drinks, as the terrace at The Running Mare was so chocka, we could hardly get through the 100+ Old Reedonians who joined us!

It was a really amazing turnout of our recent leavers, all excited to see each other before going off to exciting new adventures!

The OR events calendar got off to a flying start on the very first day back Reed's School with the annual OR Ladies Hockey Match.
We were delighted to see an outstanding turnout of alumnae spanning multiple leaving years, all returning to take on the School's 1st XI in the battle for the coveted Dufourné Cup.

Proving that talent never fades the OR Ladies produced a superb performance, retaining the trophy for a second consecutive year with an impressive 4-1 victory!

The occasion was made even more special by a visit from some of the OR 2026 boys, who had earlier played the School boys' 1st XI team before joining the OR ladies for post-match celebrations The Running Mare.

It was fantastic to see alumni from across the years coming together, both on and off the pitch, to kick off another exciting year of reeds alumni events!

Take a bow...

Louis Newman (Ca17), Shamael Chaudhry (Br14), Toby Clarke (Br25), Dan Hughes (Br25), Max Clarke (Br22) & Harry Lazell (Ca22).....who represented Old Reedonians, to become D'Abernon Cup 2026 Champions yesterday.

After a hard-fought set of matches, our gents went onto win 7-2 in the Finals against Eton, held at the home of tennis - beautiful .

This was all made possible by the continued support of Director Reed's School Tennis, Adrian Blackman, & the team members who got us through the knock-out stages: Harry Lazell, Josh Southern (Ca14), Ignas Grunius (Bl26), Paul Jessop (Bl93) & Jorge Wilton (Br12).

Fab to see Old Reedonians, Ben & Ana Williams (Ca & Mu 04) back for a visit to where it all began over 20 years ago! Even better that they came with their gorgeous daughter & son too.

Super excited that our extension of co-ed to Year 7 from Sept 2027 means we could be welcoming two new Williams to Reed's Schooll soon! 😆

This weekend, Max Morgan (Bl26) will be competing in the Men's 50m Breaststroke which comes hot on the heels of his amazing gold in the European Junior Championships 🏊‍♂️
