I am available for coaching at The Renaissance Club, in East Lothian. I like to take an overall perspective of your golf game before diving into the specifics. My coaching philosophy is to make you a better golfer, not just a pretty swinger of the golf club. It is to look at your full game, and help you to improve at lowering your scores on the golf course. I am currently doing my PGA training at

The Renaissance Club in East Lothian. Host to the 2022, 2021, 2020 & 2019 Scottish Open. The facilities here are perfect to ensure we improve your game. We have double ended driving range, hitting off turf with Titleist Pro V1 balls, 2 putting greens, a massive short game green, as well as 3 practice holes to work at on course shotmaking. On course lessons are also available, using 9 holes over the Championship course. Prior to my coaching career, I played full time on tours across Europe and Africa, including starts on the European Tour, Challenge Tour, Pro Golf Tour and the EuroPro Tour. Playing the Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen was the highlight for me. During my amateur days, I played for Scotland on several occasions, was selected for Team GB for the World university Games, and individually won the Scottish Amateur Championship in 2013. I look forward to using my experience gained over the years playing to help you lower your scores on the course.

‼️ON COURSE LESSONS‼️

Always great getting out on course with clients, see how their games shape up on the field of play rather than the practice area.

So many areas of improvements crop up, and if you are looking to improve your golf, lower your scores reduce your handicap, there’s some low hanging fruit to speed up that process.

Golf is one of the few sports that we practice away from the field of play. Do you get frustrated that you hit it great on the range, but can’t take that to the course? On course lessons can help bridge that gap. I can help look at all aspects of your game, out on the course, to help you lower your scores.

If you’d like to book an on course lesson, please DM me for more details.

🏌️‍♂️🥶 Winter Golf Tip 🥶🏌️‍♂️

Winter golf is a battle of the elements, can’t feel your fingers and toes at points, extra layers. The ball doesn’t go as far as it would during the summer months.

But how much shorter does it go?

According to Trackman, for every 10 degrees drop in Fahrenheit, the ball will lose approximately one yard of carry.

Well what does that mean? In East Lothian, our average temperature during July is 20°C (68°F). Compared to today’s conditions of 0°C (32°F) we should lose approximately 3.5 yards of carry.

Put to the test, shots on Trackman were normalised (taking the wind out of the equation and setting the temperature) with the results below.

8 iron at 20° - 152y Carry 155y Total
8 iron at 0° - 145y Carry 147y Total

Loss of 7 yards of carry and 8 yards total distance

Driver at 20° - 263y Carry 287y Total
Driver at 0° - 256y Carry 276y Total

Loss of 7 yards of carry and 9 yards total distance.

So why is there a difference? We as golfers don’t move as quickly in cooler temperatures, we have to wear extra layers of clothing, which will slow us down, the club down, and in turn the ball.

Moral of the story, when playing in cooler conditions, do not forget to take an extra club.
