Is your child eligible for free school meals following some recent changes by the Government?

Free school meals are expanding to an extra 2,100 children in north and west Cumbria next week - check your eligibility 👇

The Government has expanded access to free school meals to an extra half a million children across the country, including more than two thousand in our area. But you won’t be auto-enrolled so you need to check your eligibility and apply via the link in the comments.

This is just one of the things we’re doing to make things that little bit easier for families. Universal free breakfast clubs will also be in place in 17 west Cumbrian primary schools next week, we’ve lowered the cost of school uniforms and we’ve expanded access to free childcare for working parents.

This year we celebrated 150 years of Moor Row School. This summer we are having phase 1 of the roof replacement project with work being completed inside and out. (Phase 2 will be next summer.) We were blown away with what was discovered above the normal ceiling level - do any of you remember this motto or remember seeing the school with these arch ways? Some of the work has exposed old fireplaces and chimneys too! We hope you find these pictures as interesting and fascinating as we do.

This looks exciting! A trip to the harbour tomorrow anyone? ⛵️⛵️⛵️

Tomorrow July 28th, the Nao Santa Maria, a full-scale replica of Christopher Columbus’ flagship, will sail into Whitehaven at approx - 11am-12pm depending on weather etc...

Tickets are available to board the vessel from July 30th… She’ll be in Whitehaven until August 10th - Come and see this majestic ship and stay with us or dine with us😊🏴‍☠️😁👍

Come and see our Atlantic Inshore Lifeboat, meet some of the crew and take a tour of the lifeboat station.
There will be:
