The Christmas countdown begins, I have a few fairs and events this year which I’m really excited about! Plus I’m hosting our own reusable Christmas cracker making workshop! You’ll get everything you need to make 2 full crackers (including gift) and I will have further kits available to buy on the day too. Come and get into the festive spirit on Saturday 5th December, 10.30-11.30 at Elkstone Studios - we’ll be in the Tipi 🎄
Whilst you’re at Elkstone Studios you could also pop into Salt and Steel Store | Cotswolds for some shopping, grab a coffee from KNEAD Bakery or book for lunch at the new Lardon
Parking is free too!

I have a day up in Derbyshire today. I’m off to a gorgeous retreat day which I’ll tell you all about tomorrow. After that I’ll be delivering some books just around the corner, fortuitously as it happens, to jjslibrary
When Tia reached out to me to explain what she was doing and why, I knew I wanted to help. Creating book packs for bereaved parents to read to babies who have died in the maternity bereavement suites at two hospitals in the area, must be the most beautiful initiative I have ever come across. In memory of Tia’s little boy JJ, it’s such a beautiful thing to do to allow parents to read stories and share those normal family moments. In life we come across people doing incredible things both on a large scale but also on a smaller scale, just as powerful and just as meaningful.
I’m also taking some of our child bereavement books so that siblings can have access to a book which can help them to process what’s happening. I’m really honoured to be able to support and am looking forward to delivering the books in person to Tia.

Another beautiful review from one of our schools. We’re building a legacy to donate bereavement books to schools (plus hospitals and early years settings) to support children and families with grief and bereavement. We are supported by many business partners who help us to do this. If you’re a business seeking to give back and do something worthwhile in your local community or across the UK, please do get in touch. You can sponsor books as much or little as works for you - the benefits of providing resources like our book are easy to see and do far we’ve been able to donate around 1000 books.

What a gorgeous day celebrating our silver win (joint) for Best Preschooler book 3-5 yrs in the J U N I O R M A G A Z I N E Thank you so much to Bonita, Ellie and the team and judges for supporting our books. I’m so proud that as a self-published author I can be judged alongside traditionally published books and stand shoulder to shoulder with them. I loved seeing the energy in the room, with many familiar brands and faces, is it was lovely to meet The Kids Bathing Co. Press Loft | PR Platform and Inspire My Play ® today too.

I’m on a pod! Have a listen/watch to my latest guest podcast with ‘Any Grief Goes’ where I talk about the importance of talking to children about death with Breanne Cook. I know it’s a difficult subject, I know it can feel scary but when we don’t talk openly about death it can leave children feeling confused and isolated. If we can learn collectively that conversations about death aren’t always scary and that sadness is a normal emotion we can all feel more supported and more empowered to talk about death, grief and how it affects our lives. If we can model this for children, it gives them permission to have those conversations, to ask questions and to share their thoughts and feelings.

And we’re back! Childcare and Education Expo day one completed. A day full of incredible conversations and connections. Book sales and book giveaways, talking bereavement through hugs and tears, sharing stories and best practice. So looking forward to day two tomorrow 😊
