⭐Is it normal for partners to feel a bit unsure or left out at first?⭐
In a word - yes!
Breastfeeding can feel very mum-baby focused in the early days, and many partners worry they’re not needed or that they won't bond with baby if they don't feed them.
But bonding doesn’t just happen through feeding:
✨Skin to skin
✨Bath time
✨Babywearing
✨Settling after feeds
✨Talking, singing and cuddling
are all ways partners can build that bond with their little ones (and give the breastfeeding parent a break!)

⭐Top Tips ⭐
How can your partner support breastfeeding?
✨ Be the gatekeeper - protect mum and baby from visitors, opinions and pressure
✨ Handle the practical bits – nappies, winding, refilling water bottles etc
✨ Offer food and snacks regularly (feeding is thirsty and hungry work!)
✨ Learn feeding cues together – it builds confidence for both of you
✨ Use encouraging language: "You're doing amazing" and "I've got you" goes a long way ❤️
How did your partner help you? ⭐

⭐Did you know? ⭐
Partners play a huge role in breastfeeding success!
When a breastfeeding parent feels supported by her partner (and family), she’s more likely to:
✨ Feel confident in her feeding choices
✨ Feed for longer
✨ Ask for help sooner if something doesn’t feel right
Support doesn’t mean 'fixing' breastfeeding - it means protecting space, facilitating rest and reassurance 💖

⭐Is It Normal?⭐
It’s completely normal for baby to want to feed very often in the first couple of days.
This is called cluster feeding and helps signal to the body to produce more milk - it's not a sign they’re not getting enough.
Babies have tiny tummies when they're first born (the size of a cherry on day 1 and the size of a walnut on day 3) so they have lots of growing to do and therefore lots of feeding to do! 🥰

⭐Top Tip⭐
Don’t judge your milk by volume. Colostrum comes in teaspoons, not bottles.
Whether baby is feeding at the breast or you’re expressing, frequent stimulation is far more important than how much you can see.
Skin to skin, offering the breast regularly, and trusting your body all help set things up for mature milk to come in.
