⭐Top Tips...⭐
..for Babywearing!
Start small and give yourself time to build confidence.
It can feel fiddly at first, especially if you’re tired, recovering postpartum or trying to juggle everything else too. Most parents don’t magically know how to use a sling straight away 💕
A few simple things can help:
✨ Practice at home first
✨ Use a mirror if it helps
✨ Tighten little by little
✨ Make sure baby is high enough to kiss 😘
✨ Make sure baby's legs and hips are in the correct position
✨ Don’t be afraid to ask for help from a sling library or consultant (we highly recommend the lovely Gemma from 🤩)
Have you used a sling or carrier before and has it helped? 💕

⭐ Did You Know? ⭐
Did you know that babywearing can help support your baby’s development as well as making life a little easier for you? 🥰
Being close to you helps regulate your baby’s: ✨ Heart rate
✨ Breathing
✨ Temperature
✨ Stress levels
It can also support bonding and attachment, reduce crying for some babies and give them lots of opportunities to observe the world from the safety and comfort of your arms 💕
And for many parents, it means being able to cuddle their baby while still having a free hand for a hot brew, the school run or cuddling an older sibling too ☕💜
There’s no such thing as 'spoiling' a baby by holding them close 👌🏻

⭐ Is it normal? ⭐
Is there something wrong with my baby feeding so much in the summer?
Usually NO.
Hot weather often means babies feed more frequently because they're thirsty, tired or grizzly.
You might notice more frequent feeds, shorter feeds, increased fussiness, wanting more contact naps or cuddles and more waking overnight.
This can feel exhausting, especially when you're hot and overstimulated yourself 🥵
But feeding more often is key because your breast milk adapts to help hydrate your baby perfectly.
Make sure to check baby is having plenty of wet nappies and baby is alert when awake.
You’re doing better than you think ❤️

⭐Tip Tip⭐
If your baby suddenly wants to feed little and often during warm weather - follow their lead!
More frequent feeds are completely normal in the heat and help keep little ones stay hydrated.
Here are a few things that can help:
✨ Skin to skin (can help to regulate baby's temperature)
✨ Feed responsively
✨ Stay somewhere cool or shaded where possible
✨ Keep yourself hydrated too
✨ Light, loose clothing can help
And remember, babies under 6 months do not need any water - your milk is all they need! 💕

⭐ Did You Know? ⭐
Babies under 6 months whi are breastfed don't need extra water, even during hot weather!
Breast milk very cleverly adapts to your baby's needs and becomes more hydrating and watery in warmer weather to help keep your baby cool and hydrated!
This is one reason babies may feed more frequently in the summer (when it arrives 😅🙈). They're not always hungry; sometimes they're thirsty and hydrating themselves.
Keep feeding responsively, watch for wet nappies and try to stay cool together in the shade where possible 🌞
