πŸ•―οΈ A Moment of Reflection and Remembrance πŸ•―οΈ

Following our History Tour of Krakow and Auschwitz, we would like to share these moving videos featuring our pupils reading powerful poems written by Holocaust survivors, alongside Imogen's heartfelt recitation of the Eternal Rest prayer.

These thoughtful tributes honour the memory of the 1.1 million people who were senselessly murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the most devastating sites of genocide in human history.

As we reflect on all that we learned and experienced during our visit, we remember those who suffered, those who lost their lives, and the importance of ensuring that their stories are never forgotten.

πŸŽ‰ What a Fantastic Rewards Day! πŸŽ‰
There was a real buzz around school as pupils enjoyed our annual Rewards Day, packed with fun activities and opportunities for everyone to get involved.
From bingo and baking to Zorb football, Nerf Wars, puzzles and games, there was something to suit every interest. Pupils also enjoyed football, outdoor games, inflatables and even a relaxing walk through the woods as part of a day filled with laughter, friendship and fun.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing pupils from across the school coming together to celebrate their achievements and enjoy activities that were free and accessible to all. The atmosphere throughout the school was fantastic, with smiles everywhere and pupils making the most of a well-deserved reward.
A huge thank you to all the staff who helped organise and run the activities, making it such a memorable day for everyone involved. Mrs Tierney is still our number 1 Bingo caller!

🌟 A Huge Well Done to Jessica! 🌟
We are incredibly proud of Year 7 pupil Jessica, who has recently returned from Dublin after competing at the prestigious Dance World Cup.
This elite international competition brought together 11,500 dancers from 60 countries, showcasing some of the very best young talent from around the world.
Jessica competed as a soloist in the Showstopper category and was also the lead performer in the Small Group Contemporary category alongside five fellow dancers from Body In Motion Dance, Horwich. Qualifying for the Dance World Cup Finals is a remarkable achievement in itself, with almost 10,000 entries reviewed across the categories for Team England and Wales alone.
Jessica delivered fantastic performances throughout the competition, improving on her qualification scores and achieving an impressive 35th place out of 80 competitors in her solo event. Alongside competing, she had the opportunity to take part in workshops led by world-renowned choreographers and dancers, as well as making new friends from across the globe during the vibrant opening ceremony at Dublin’s Arena.
What an incredible experience and achievement! Congratulations, Jessica – we are extremely proud of your dedication, talent and commitment. πŸ’ƒβœ¨

Last weekend pupils enjoyed a lifetime experience as they went on their visit to Krakow and Auschwitz. A trip to enrich their studies of 20th Century history.

The centrepiece of the tour was a full day special study guided tour of the death camps at Auschwitz and Birkenau. In our own private service of reflection by the ruins of the gas chambers, pupils read poems by Holocaust survivors and Imogen recited the Eternal Rest in memory of the 1.1 million human beings senselessly murdered at the most terrible site of genocide in the World.

Our first excursion was to the 800 year old UNESCO Heritage Site – the Wieliczka Salt Mines. The pupils had a guided tour by Polish miners 500 feet underground and explored a range of increasingly spectacular caverns and chambers, full of ornate carvings, sculptures and light and sound exhibitions.

Guided tours of the Jewish Ghetto, Medieval Old Town, Cathedral and Kazimierz followed. We took in spectacular views of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities by a boat cruise and had some wonderful meals in traditional Polish restaurants. An unplanned extra activity was our Polish guide taking us inside some of Krakow’s most spectacular Medieval churches after they learned we were a Catholic school. A ghost tour of the some of the gory sites of Krakow’s spookier history of ghosts and executions was a final highlight.

Thank you to Mr Murry and his team of staff for giving up their time to run the visit, including Miss Turner (deputy trip leader) and Mr Jones, our brilliant new history teacher, who joins the school in September. The pupils impressed everyone we met on tour with their manners, conduct, kindness and team-spirit. Life-long memories were made and the key aim of the tour was met in full: to make the pupils reflect and think.

Mr Moon is extremely proud of everyone's collective effort and the fantastic way our school community has come together to make a real difference.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped support this important cause. Together, we can achieve amazing things! 😊

πŸ§©πŸ“š Puzzle Completed! πŸ“šπŸ§©

A huge well done to Archie and Pippa, two of our fantastic Year 9 librarians, who were delighted to complete their current jigsaw before the end of term! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

The library puzzle table has become a great way for pupils to relax, collaborate and challenge themselves throughout the year. 😊

We're already looking forward to the next challenge in September, when a Shakespeare-themed jigsaw will take centre stage! πŸŽπŸ“–

Can you guess which famous Shakespeare characters might appear? πŸ‘€
