Our Year 10 pupils have been honing their poetry performance skills in preparation for their NOCN Presentation Unit, and what a fantastic job they've done! 🌟

Drawing inspiration from powerful speakers and performers such as Amanda Gorman and Sir Michael Caine, pupils have been developing their confidence, refining their delivery, and building valuable presentation skills along the way. 🎙️✨

🔆😎 What an exciting start to the Madrid Trip 2026! 😎🔆

After a very early morning wake-up call, our pupils have already packed so much into their first day in Madrid! ☀️

They spent the afternoon exploring the city in the sunshine, taking in the sights of Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace and Gran Vía, while putting their Spanish skills to the test as they ordered delicious delicacies at Mercado de San Miguel. 🥘🍨

The day was rounded off with an evening of delicious tapas — ¡Un día perfecto! 😄

🌍🗣️ European Day of Languages 2026 - Celebrating global languages and diversity🗣️🌍
What a fantastic way to start the day at Holy Cross!
This week Mrs Huddy led collective worship, and our pupils embraced the spirit of the European Day of Languages with enthusiasm, curiosity and respect as we celebrated the rich diversity of languages and cultures that make our community so special.
A particular highlight was hearing pupils proudly share the core values of "Love God, Work Hard, Be Kind", in their own languages, reminding us that whilst we may speak different languages, we share the same values and belong to one school family.
The assembly explored how languages help us connect with others, build understanding and celebrate diversity. Pupils reflected on the importance of creating a community where everyone feels safe, included and a true sense of belonging, regardless of their background or heritage.
There was fantastic participation throughout, with pupils enthusiastically identifying different languages, sharing their own experiences and enjoying some iconic European music as we began the day.
At Holy Cross, we celebrate the unique gifts, cultures and languages of all members of our community. Diversity enriches us, broadens our horizons and reminds us that every voice matters.

✨ Carols by Candlelight ✨
Join us for an evening of festive joy, beautiful music, and Christmas reflection as we celebrate the season at our Carols by Candlelight service, followed by refreshments.
Led by our talented school choir, this special event will take place on Tuesday 1 December, 6 pm - 7 pm at St Mary's Church, Chorley. Surrounded by the warm glow of candlelight and the setting of St Mary's, this promises to be a wonderful way to begin the Christmas season with family and friends.
Everyone is warmly welcome. We look forward to sharing this magical evening with our school community. 🎄🕯️🎶

Our Year 7 pupils had a fantastic time celebrating Sky Hawk Day today!
After reading Sky Hawk over the summer, pupils were delighted to welcome acclaimed author Gill Lewis to school. Gill delivered an inspiring assembly and led engaging workshops, giving pupils a wonderful insight into the world of writing and storytelling.
Throughout the day, Year 7 also took part in a variety of themed lessons and activities linked to the book, bringing the story to life and deepening their enjoyment of reading.
We were especially impressed by the response to our Design a Book Cover Competition, which received the highest number of entries we have ever had! 🎨📖
Congratulations to Noah, who was crowned the winner, and to our runners-up, Evie and Louis. Well done to everyone who took part and showcased their creativity.
A memorable day celebrating reading, creativity and a love of literature! 🌟

🌟 Congratulations to Year 10 pupil Piper! 🌟
We are incredibly proud of Piper, who has been awarded Learner of the Month award.
Piper attends Preston College as part of her work-related learning programme and is currently studying a Level 1 Construction Course. Throughout the programme, she has shown outstanding enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a willingness to fully engage in practical activities.
Preston College praised Piper for her growing confidence and determination, saying:
"Piper has demonstrated a fantastic enthusiasm for learning, showing a positive attitude and a willingness to get involved in practical activities. Her confidence has grown throughout the programme, and she is increasingly willing to take on new challenges and demonstrate her skills. Her commitment, enthusiasm and developing self-belief make her a deserving recipient of this award."

🌊🏆 An Incredible Achievement for Year 9 Emily! 🏆🌊
We are delighted to celebrate an outstanding out-of-school achievement by Year 9 pupil Emily, who has just returned from competing for Great Britain at the European Wake Surfing Championships on Lake Orta, Italy.
Emily, who has only been wake surfing since the age of 11, delivered an exceptional performance to secure 2nd place, meaning she is now officially ranked 2nd in Europe in her category! 🥈🌍
Her success has certainly caught the attention of others in the sport.
Next week, Emily will travel to Xiang Lake in Hangzhou, China, where she will compete against the world's best at the World Championships.🌎
We are incredibly proud of everything Emily has achieved and cannot wait to hear how she gets on. We wish her the very best of luck and hope she has an amazing experience representing not only herself but Great Britain at the highest level.

Our Year 7 pupils have been enjoying exciting, hands-on science lessons, putting their learning into practice through a range of engaging experiments and practical activities.
With World Space Week just around the corner, our budding scientists have been developing their investigative skills, asking questions, making predictions and discovering the wonders of science firsthand.
We can't wait to see what they get up to during World Space Week next week! 🌟
