Year 7 English Trip to Yarrow Valley Country Park

Our Year 7 students enjoyed a fantastic English trip to Yarrow Valley Country Park, armed with clipboards and descriptive writing booklets.

On arrival, students immersed themselves in a fictional quest world, carefully observing their surroundings and recording their ideas and observations. The visit provided the perfect inspiration for a series of upcoming creative writing lessons back in the classroom.

It was a wonderful morning, and the pupils were fantastic representatives of Southlands High School throughout the trip. Their enthusiasm, creativity and excellent behaviour made us incredibly proud.

We look forward to seeing how their experiences at Yarrow Valley inspire their imaginative writing in the weeks ahead!

District Athletics Success!

We are incredibly proud of all the students from Southlands High School who attended the District Athletics event.

Our students were absolutely fantastic, demonstrating great determination, resilience and responsibility throughout the day. They represented Southlands High School with pride, and their behaviour was exceptional from start to finish.

We achieved several outstanding results, including a number of second- and third-place finishes in events such as the javelin, 100 metres and 200 metres. These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by our students both in training and on the day of competition.

Every student who took part was an excellent ambassador for the school, and they should be extremely proud of their achievements, efforts and sportsmanship.

Well done to everyone involved – you have done yourselves and Southlands High School proud!
