Year 7 have begun their Judaism unit in Religious Studies by exploring Abraham, a key figure in monotheism. Pupils learnt about the covenants between God and Abraham before bringing the story to life through role play this week. They particularly enjoyed dressing up in costumes and acting out the story of Abraham’s sacrifice of Isaac.

On Monday 12th October, our Year 8 girls travelled to Gad’s Hill for their first netball fixture of the year. Both the A and B teams worked extremely hard, focusing on their communication and movement across the court. Gad’s Hill offered tough opposition, with the score lines remaining close throughout both matches.

Both teams demonstrated some fantastic technical skills, with our GS and GA on both teams, Chloe, Kyra, Kiran and Hanaa, rarely missing a shot. Their excellent shooting helped secure a 10 – 6 win for the A team and a 4 – 4 draw for the B team.

All the girls have made tremendous improvements throughout Year 7 and into Year 8, so we are looking forward to seeing what they can achieve throughout this year of Netball.

Danielle in Year 9 has been awarded a very special award from her netball club, Telstars: the Jack Petchey Award. Danielle has shown consistent dedication to netball, both in and out of school, attending netball club regularly with a fantastic attitude. She should be extremely proud of herself and this well-deserved achievement.

Telstars wrote a lovely comment explaining why Danielle deserved this award:

“Danielle always trains and plays to the best of her ability. She is hardworking and always has a desire to win. A great listener, she takes new ideas on board from her coaches and puts them into practice. Danielle never gives up, very rarely misses a match or training session, and is totally committed and a loyal member of Telstars NC.”

We are delighted to be taking part in the National Year of Reading with Book Trust's Bookbuzz Secondary School Reading Programme.

Every pupil in Year 7 will receive a free book of their choice from a collection of 16 titles.
The programme encourages pupils to browse a selection of high-quality titles, evaluate their options and choose a book they genuinely want to read.

By supporting reading for pleasure, we aim to foster a positive impact on reading, spark social conversations about books with friends, family and teachers and develop vocabulary, comprehension and engagement with learning.
