Clay needs weighing, botanicals need gathering, tools need sorting, leaflets need adding and eventually it all needs packing up and taking to the Post Office.

I actually quite like this part because I know that at the other end, somebody is going to open it and have everything waiting for an evening of making.

If September is already starting to fill up with things you have to do, perhaps this can be one thing in the diary that you actually want to do.

On ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ญ๐ก ๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐š๐ญ ๐Ÿ”๐ฉ๐ฆ, weโ€™ll meet online for the first Monthly Rituals & Peaceful Pottery session and spend some time making botanical hanging decorations from air-dry clay.

Your box will arrive beforehand with everything prepared, including your free Starter Tool Kit, so when the evening comes thereโ€™s very little for you to organise. Make yourself a drink, find somewhere comfortable to work, open your box and Iโ€™ll take you through the rest.

I hope this becomes more than simply another craft project. Iโ€™d love it to become a reason to regularly put some time aside for yourself and rediscover how good it feels to make something simply because you enjoy making it.

I really donโ€™t believe creativity is something that some people get and the rest of us somehow miss out on. Sometimes itโ€™s simply something we havenโ€™t given ourselves permission to do for a very long time.

You donโ€™t need to arrive at this session with ideas or artistic skills because Iโ€™ll guide you through the techniques and show you how to make the project. What you do with those ideas is completely up to you.

Thereโ€™s no right version to produce and nobody is marking it at the end - thankfully, I left that bit behind when I stopped teaching in schools! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The aim is to enjoy having the clay in your hands, experiment a little and give your brain something completely different to focus on for a while.

Because this isnโ€™t just an online class and I actually need to pack up your clay, tools and botanicals and get your lovely box through the post to you, there does need to be a cut-off point for bookings.

That gives me time to get everything packed and on its way without either of us having to anxiously watch the postman on the morning of the 11th!

One of my favourite parts of this project is bringing some of the outside in.

Your box will include botanicals to use with your clay, but Iโ€™d also love you to have a little wander around your own garden, balcony or even your herb pots before we meet and see what you can find.

Rosemary, lavender, thyme and sage all leave beautiful but completely different impressions in the clay. Thereโ€™s something lovely about slowing down enough to actually notice their shapes, textures and scents rather than just walking past them.

Itโ€™s exactly the sort of simple moment I want these sessions to create.

Not long now until our first Peaceful Pottery evening ๐ŸŒฟ

On ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ญ๐ก ๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐š๐ญ ๐Ÿ”๐ฉ๐ฆ, ten boxes will hopefully have made their way to ten homes, ready for us to sit down together on Zoom and turn some clay, herbs and leaves into something lovely.

Iโ€™m really looking forward to seeing how everybody interprets the project because, although Iโ€™ll be showing you the techniques, I donโ€™t want you all to make an exact copy of mine. Choosing your botanicals, arranging them and deciding on your shapes is all part of making the project yours.
