I am a mixed media & textile artist who is passionate about colour, texture, line, and light. About Me
My love of art started at a very young age, my mother showed me that colour was the start of all great work. It has been a part of our family life, the equivalent to Sunday lunches, or sand in your sandwiches. Inspiration, motivation, and artistic flare, was always in great supply in my childhood
home. As a result I used a variety of materials and was encouraged to experiment through the use of different techniques. Nothing was considered wrong. I have to admit that I thought all children visited museums, art galleries and everyone loved colour as much as I did. I am still surprised this is not the case. To fast forward a few decades, I now have three children, a husband, and a very new grandchild and all have been raised with the same love and appreciation for art. My Experience
I attended Bath Spar University to study Fine Art and Textiles in which I achieved a BA degree with Honours. Since graduating some years ago, I have been employed as a freelance artist. I have also spent time inspiring the younger generation as an Artist in Residence at a primary school, and have run work shops in mainstream secondary schools. As a media & textile artist I love to experiment with different materials. I like to manipulate studies using a variety of paints, inks, dyes, fabric, and pure pigments to build up a visual tactile work. Through various applications I build layer upon layer—sometimes adding, sometimes taking away. Layering colour to creates the sense of realism through the abstract. Colour is, literally, essential to me.
