New reading comp resources - I like to use lots of variation in my sessions to keep my students interested and on task. Focus today - reading pace and fluency as well as answering using the reading VIPERS strategies.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing half term 🥰 🎃. Today, I’m working on exam technique with a Year 11 student. Although I specalise in tutoring primary school pupils, many of the skills taught at primary school are used, and built upon, at secondary school.

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer holidays ☀️ What a scorcha it’s been. Make the most of your last few weeks before early mornings and routine kicks back in.

I still have availability for back to school sessions in August. Refresher sessions are fantastic for getting your child back into the mindset of school before September. They are relaxed but very effective.

It’s a long 6 weeks off so children really do benefit from going over the basics before they head off to their new classes and year groups .

The Autumn term is notoriously long - new routines are being established with their new teacher, expectations and targets being set.
I can help your child by covering some of the key areas of learning in my tutoring sessions. I cover Reception to Year 6.

The day job !!

Back in my comfort zone of Year 6 today, although I loved a reception last week to see where the learning journey starts for my older students.

Talk for writing with Reception today.. I’m not an artist but talking the story through, with picture prompts, is an excellent tool for embedding vocabulary (at all ages) … 📖

The day job - every day is different. I’m in Reception today 😊

Painting and using chunky chalks is fantastic for the development of fine moter skills in children, a pre curser to mark marking, letter formation and handwriting … ✍️🎨

This proves the skills taught in primary school are totally transferable ! Learn the basics, and learn them well.
