Hi I’m Ellie, I’m currently doing my PGCE teacher training course for secondary school Drama. I also have a real passion for English, gaining great grades at GCSE & A-Level. After successfully tutoring 3 students from January - June in English, I have decided to help more students fulfill their potential in their exams! My 1-1 sessions provide pupils with that extra help outside of the school setting and aid to increase confidence in Shakespearean language, learning quotes and answering exam questions. Sessions are online, I am DBS checked and I offer tutoring for both English Literature and Language.

Introduction 👋🏼

Hello I’m Ellie Short. I am 24 years old and I live in Chichester, West Sussex.

As a student at secondary school, English was one of my favourite subjects. I had an amazing teacher who really inspired me to do well and it really reflected in my GCSE results. I got an 8 (A*) in English Language and a 7 (A) in English Literature. I loved the texts that we studied and decided that I wanted to choose English Literature as an A-Level. I studied Literature for another two years for my A-Level and I finished with a B. I was really proud of what I had achieved and I loved learning the variety of texts that was taught to me.

However, it was tough. I really enjoyed English and wanted to do well but couldn’t find the best way to revise. I tried so many techniques until I found a way that actually stuck. I know a lot of people struggle finding their “method” for revision and I know that everyone learns in different ways. It will always come down to the best way for you and that might not be the way that it is taught in schools, but that’s okay! Everyone is different and therefore a teacher cannot always cater to everybody’s needs. Sometimes you just need a little bit more.

That’s where I can step in… I have decided to take my passion for English and own experience with finding the best way to revise, and offer 1-1 tutoring sessions to students who just need a bit more than their classes at school.

I can provide in person sessions to those who live locally or sessions via Teams to those who are not. Session times can vary depending on availability but I normally offer 1 hour per student.
