This week, the Year 6 children have been taking part in Enterprise Week. We have been learning about starting and running a successful business, and the skills needed to be a good entrepreneur. On Friday 4th November (between 3:15 - 3:30), we will be selling a selection of tasty snacks and drinks, and arts and craft items that we have made for a very reasonable price! Please visit our ‘Pop-up’ shop on the main playground but please note that this is a cash only event. All money raised will fund activities for Year 6 later on in the year with 15% of all money raised donated to a local charity (to be decided). We look forward to seeing you on Friday!
The Friends are organising a Cake Sale for the school Open Afternoon. This is to raise money to purchase the Disney Production Pack for next summers’ school production (approx. £500).
If you can, please bring cake donations (shop bought or home-made – no nuts) to the Hut in the morning and the sale will take place from 2:30pm.
Cakes will be 50p each. We do have a card machine, but it will be a lot quicker to serve you if you have cash!
Group 2 have also had a fantastic afternoon! We can’t wait to tell you all about it.
Mrs Appleby 🍎 🐝
Despite the wet weather we are having a wonderful first morning with group 1. They have settled in brilliantly and already exploring the classroom. We hope you are having a great morning too! See you shortly.

Good morning all,
Is anyone in the process of getting rid of a play kitchen that their little one has grown out of? We are after a natural wooden one, not painted or plastic perhaps similar to the ikea one. We have had to unexpectedly get rid of ours due to wear and tear.
Thank you in advance as I know you are always wonderfully helpful when I put out my pleas.
Mrs Appleby 🍎 🐝
We have made the decision to CLOSE THE SCHOOL due to the worsening weather conditions today - 18th February.
Our Y5s loved 🥰 their sneak preview of the new Brick Wonders exhibition 👍🏽
Don't forget our cake sale tomorrow. Please bring donations of cakes to school - and send your child in with some money (up to a pound) so they can buy one in the afternoon. Thank you 🤩
Good afternoon new Year R parents ☀️
Group 2 are also having a FANTASTIC session! We have played, had snack and a story and are enjoying the sunshine. The children have been superstars learning new routines and sitting on the carpet. The cars, water tray, Barbies and creative area have been a great hit. We hope you are having a good afternoon too.
Mrs Appleby 🍎 🐝
Hi new Year R parents!
We are having a GREAT morning. I'm so proud of how well the children came in this morning. They are enjoying exploring their new environment and making new friends. They can't wait to tell you all about it at pick up. It has been lovely to play alongside the children and to hear all about the things they enjoy doing. We have had conversations about wildlife, their favourite play parks, what they want to be when they grow up and I even had to eat some pirate soup in the mud kitchen! Apologies as there were some photos but I am having technical difficulties.
See you soon,
Mrs Appleby 🍎🐝
Today, as we say farewell to Mrs Sadler who has been Headteacher here for six and a half years, we wanted to share with you the song that the children - and staff - recorded for her for you to also enjoy.

A message from Mrs Hayers:
What beautiful retirement cards from all the children and staff. I've been so privileged to work with such an amazing group of people and am so lucky to have ended my career in such a wonderful place.
Thank you for everyone's good wishes - parents, children and staff. Tomorrow is my final teaching day at Jessie, and I think tissues may be needed.
Much love from Mrs Hayers 🥰

Ted, in Year 2, is only 6, but last week he decided he wanted to try and use his love of cricket (and his new rebound net that his Pampa gave him) to help people that need it. He set out on a challenge to complete 2,000 throws and catches on his rebound net in a day.
He started at 7am, and with only a couple of breaks (and one episode of Danger Mouse) he completed his task 10 hours later.
He wanted to raise £100, but has already raised over £850!
If you would like to reward Ted's efforts, then you can sponsor him too at:

We are very grateful to Chartwells for providing a complimentary hamper to the parents that received an inadequate hamper last week.
Chartwells has provided this as a gesture of goodwill.
It is lovely to come in and find we have heat, power and lights at work today. Small things that make such a difference!

WOW!!
I don’t know why I am surprised each time. I have worked at Jessie long enough to know one of the best things about working here is the support from our community. The wonderful staff at St Anthony’s also had a collection to add to our haul today.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contributions. It was touch and go as to whether my children would fit in the car home!
Don’t forget to spread the word so that your donations can help as many families as possible.

The first group of Year R children have settled in beautifully and are having a great time exploring their new environment.
I’m sure many of you have noticed how beautiful our pond area is now looking. What you may not know is that it has taken hours of hard work by our site manager Mr Wilkins and his family. We are hugely appreciative as the area is now so much more user friendly.
Yesterday, we were lucky enough to have a stunning dragon fly enter Reception class as we were reading a story. Mr Neaves suggested that perhaps it had come from our pond area, so at the end of the day we headed down to explore. We read a story called ‘Pig in the Pond’ whilst under the shade of a big tree. We didn’t see the dragon fly again but we all agreed it was a beautiful spot to share a story. One of the children said “I’m looking at the pond whilst listening to the story; I like it.” We all agreed it was a very calming place.
Thank you Mr Wilkins 😁

As many of you will know, one of our school's partners is "Portsmouth In The Community" who offer after-school sports clubs, of which football has proved to be the most popular.
They have reached out to us and asked us to share with our school some fund-raising that is taking place today:
On Friday the 3rd of July I will be challenging myself to play 10 straight hours of football in order to raise funds for PITC.
During the 10 hours I will be joined by Ash for a live PE lesson, the details of which are in the attached poster. It would be great to get as many schools involved as we can!
If you would like to take part, it will be streamed on my page...

We have been asked to share this with parents:
"We are looking to provide a base for local parents to bring their children to a controlled childcare environment this summer following all appropriate Covid-19 guidelines and regulations. We want to provide an consistent regular childcare option throughout the whole summer and not just for a single week. Therefore, we have arranged to run the holiday camp every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Chichester throughout the whole summer. In the event the sign up reaches maximum numbers, often we could look to offer extra days if required. On the activity camp, there will be a mix of activities including games, arts and crafts etc so can be a childcare options for all and not just the children looking to play sports all day.
Bookings can be made through the link below:

With all the items in the news, and protests in (and around) Chichester, we have added a page to the School's website so that your children can learn more about the movement.
From the page, there are also links to Newsround and Blue Peter clips that explain what is happening in very "child-friendly" language.
