Many thanks in advance💙

It's Harvest Seaon and we had the pleasure of hosting the harvest service for Newbold Church of England Primary School on Wednesday 18th October. The whole service was carried out by the school pupils. Members of year 6 read out all the liturgy and commentary with clear diction and excellent delivery. The whole school sang five harvest songs with tuneful vigour. We were very glad that about fifty parents, grandparents and carers joined us for the service, as we thanked God for the harvest and His wonderful creation. Once again, the pupils did the school (and their parents) proud and we really enjoyed seeing them again.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE - Due to the adverse weather and flooding around Chesterfield, we are happy for parents to collect children early should they need to do so in order to ensure everyone gets home safely. Rest assured children who remain in school will continue to be safe and can be collected at the end of the day as usual. Children will be eating their lunch between 12 and 12.45pm and can be collected after that time. Please do not ring the school, you can just turn up to collect them. Thank you

The recent increase in Derbyshire school meals from £2.30 to £3.25 per day could mean that hot school meals become unaffordable for some families.
If any parents are interested, please sign the petition below which proposes that school meals are charged at £2.65 instead which is in line with the national average. The petition needs to get to 7,000 signatures.

💜Wednesday was 'Wear Purple Day' to raise money for school to buy a memorial for Gracie Spinks, an ex pupil who tragically had her life taken in June 2021.
💜We held a bake sale, a raffle, sold keyrings and wore our favourite purple clothes to raise money and we are very proud to announce that so far we have raised an amazing total of £812.38 on top of all the donations of buns and sweet treats - this is an NCS fundraising record!
💜We'd like to say a huge thanks to Arlo's mum who organised and donated to the raffle and hand-made keyrings for us to sell. We'd also like to say a huge thanks to all our parents and carers who have donated. In less than a week we have raised over £1,300 for two very special causes which we are incredibly proud of, well done everyone!

We still have space at our baby and toddler group and our nursery building is air conditioned which is perfect for this hot weather!☀🌡See below for more information.
💙🦅BABY AND TODDLER GROUP AT THE NEST🦅💙
We still have space available at our free baby and toddler sessions! Children have a stimulating environment in which to play and we offer the children the opportunity to join in with free play, crafts, singing, outdoor play, messy and sensory play.
The sessions are very informal, the weeks follow a set theme and you will have the use of the indoor and outdoor areas. The indoor area will look different to how we have it set up for nursery, so that we can ensure age-appropriate resources are available. Nursery staff will be on hand to chat and play, and there are leaflets and displays to offer support and advice on topics such as sleeping and weaning.
If you are thinking of enrolling your child for entry into our Nursery class, this is a great opportunity to allow your child to become familiar with the Nursery environment and Nursery staff!
Drinks are not being provided at this time therefore we ask that you bring yourself and your child a drink. If it is a hot drink it will need to be in a safety mug.
If you have any more questions or are interested in our baby and toddler group please send us a message or contact the school office on 01246 232370.

Last Friday was 'Wear it orange day' raising awareness and money for the Batten Disease Family Association which is an amazing charity that supports families of those affected by the rare disease. This is a charity event which is particularly close to us as a school as one of our very own pupils, Grace, suffers with Batten disease. The BDFA has provided invaluable support to Grace and her family and we wanted to show our appreciation for this with our fund-raising efforts.🧡
We are pleased to announce that we raised a grand total of £500 for this amazing charity which is such a fantastic effort!🧡
Thank you again for all your donations, they really do make a huge difference.🧡

Reminder that this Wednesday we are holding a bake sale and wearing our favourite purple clothes in memory of Gracie Spinks. We are also selling raffle tickets in the school office at £1 a strip in order to raise money for a memorial for Gracie on our school site, more information see the poster below💜

🚶♀️WALK AND WHEEL TO SCHOOL WEEK🚴♂️
What a fantastic effort we had from everyone for our walk and wheel to school initiative last week! Over 60% of our pupils managed to complete the 5 day challenge which is amazing (prizes and certificates are on the way to those children!) On top of this we had lots more pupils who walked or wheeled to school at least one day last week which is a step towards more sustainable and healthy travel so a big well done to these children too!🚶♀️
We had some fantastic photos sent in of your journeys to school which are on our website under the 'Travel Smart' page. 🚴♂️
Thank you again for all your cooperation and a huge well done to the children who had a go at the challenge!

Walk/Wheel to school week:
Next week (15th-19th May) is walk and wheel to school week and we are challenging our children to walk or wheel to school 5 times during the week. Choosing a more sustainable way to get to and from school is not only environmentally friendly but also promotes good physical and mental health. Additionally walking, cycling or scooting can help children develop road safety skills which will keep them safe as they grow more independent.
All children have been sent home with a small laminated card. If you have walked or wheeled to school, present this card to the member of staff on the school gate in the morning and they will stamp the bottom. Collect 5 stamps throughout the week and you will receive a small prize and a certificate.
We understand that for some families it isn't always possible to walk or wheel from your house so why not get involved with 'Park and Stride' - this involves parking at Littlemoor shops or one of our surrounding roads and walking down to us from there, this is enough to get you a stamp. There are scooter pods and bike racks in the courtyard if you need to leave your wheels at school.
We'd also love to see some photos of you all enjoying your journeys to school whether this be walking or wheeling. We will then make a collection of the best photos to be displayed on the travel page on our website. Photos can be emailed to Miss Brown in the office.
Thank you for your cooperation🚴♂️🚶♀️
