WOW! What a day at NCS Fest!☀️🎈😎

We just want to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing families and supporters who helped make this year’s fundraising event such a success💛

From the fun festival prep in the morning, to the fantastic stalls and games, to the brilliant music and the perfect weather, the whole day was filled with such an incredible atmosphere. It was wonderful to see our school community come together and enjoy it all❤️

A few ‘thank you’s are in order before we reveal how much we raised. A big thank you to the pupils from Whittington Green School, Old Whittington for joining us and delivering such a fantastic performance, it was a real highlight of the day and we were so grateful to have you as part of our event! 💚

Thank you to our food vendors Street Dogz, Pizza Pi and Sugar Rush who brought us fabulous flavours, you kept everyone well fed and added to the brilliant festival feel💜

Thank you to our stall holders, who brought fun games, unique crafts and exciting toys, helping to create such a vibrant and enjoyable experience for everyone who attended. We also want to say how incredibly proud we are of all our children. They embraced the day with such enthusiasm, behaved beautifully and truly made the event full of energy, joy and community spirit. Whether performing, helping or simply enjoying the activities, they were a real credit to our school. We are proud to be part of such an amazing school community!🩷

We are so excited to reveal that after outgoings we raised just over £1,500 which is beyond incredible! This money will go back into school for enrichment opportunities, playground improvements and new resources. This money will make a real difference for our children💛

We are really looking forward to welcoming parents and families to NCS Fest tomorrow. To help everything run smoothly, please take a moment to read the key information, this is a long one so get ready!

☀️Tomorrow is a non-uniform day with a ‘summer’ theme, please remember that crocs and sandals are not permitted due to health and safety reasons and that clothing should be age and weather appropriate. Dance club have no specific ‘costume’ to wear but clothes that you choose to wear should be comfy enough to dance in!

🎨Tomorrow morning, children will take part in a round-robin of activities led by NCS staff. This includes, face painting, temporary tattoos, hair styling station, drinks station, biscuit making, keyring making and nail art station. All children EYFS – Year 6 will have the opportunity to enjoy these activities as part of their school day but please be aware that children don’t have to join in with every activity. I will explain the activities to the children today and it would be worth you speaking with them tonight to decide if they’d like to partake in everything or just some things. Please ensure children are in on time as activities are set to start at 9am promptly! In Nursery, children will be biscuit making, hat making and keyring making.

🥪Lunch will run as normal, and food will still be available from the school kitchen (sandwiches and finger food) or children can bring a packed lunch if they normally do. Children may choose to eat a little less at lunchtime if they know they will be having food at the festival later in the day. This is entirely a family decision, so please speak with your child beforehand so they are clear on what they are doing.

🎤During the main event, parents should arrive ready to enter at 1.15pm, as soon as children have been registered, parents can come round to their class and collect their child/ren. You can enter through the normal walk-in gate. Nursery children can be collected from the normal Nursery door. Children must remain your supervision once you have collected them, arrangements have already been made for children without parents/family members attending. All stalls are cash only, although some food vendors may take card, please try and bring change where you can. If your child is attending the festival without an adult and you want to send some money, please put this is a named envelope with the amount written on the front. Music by the fabulous pupils at Whittington Green begins at 1.30pm and their set will last around 45 minutes, please pop up onto the infant playground and see the great talent on show! Then the dance club will perform at 3pm on the field. Bubble football places have been allocated to everyone who sent a form in, please check Arbor for this!

ℹ️If you become separated from your child at any point, please report immediately to Mrs Marsh or Miss Brown (wearing hi-vis), where a lost child procedure will be followed but please be reassured that a staff member will be at the gate. Could we remind all friends and family that a ‘No Smoking Policy’ operates on DDAT property, this includes the use of vapes and e-cigarettes. Please also note the consumption of alcohol is also not permitted. May we also kindly remind parents that, for safeguarding reasons, photographs from the event should not be shared on social media where other children are visible in the photo. We are pleased to have a professional photographer (Tom Fuller) in attendance at NCS Fest. Please be assured that he is fully DBS checked, if you see Tom walking around, be sure to give him a smile! All photographs will be reviewed by Miss Brown before sharing, to ensure that any children/families who cannot be included on the school website are not shown. As you will be aware, parking near school will be difficult on the afternoon, please consider parking a little further away and remember not to block driveways or double park - remember that Cranborne Road is a bus route!

💙It is set to be a fab day and we hope that everyone in attendance can enjoy some time together whilst also fundraising vital funds for school!

We were incredibly proud to take part in a DDAT art exhibition titled, 'Mini Masterpieces.' Our art work celebrates the idea that even the smallest of details can hold great beauty and meaning. We had so many brilliant pieces of art work, it was very difficult to choose which pieces to display!

The exhibition will be open to the public 30th June - 3rd July, 3pm-6pm at the Markeaton Street University of Derby Campus.

Unfortunately due to a poor weather forecast, our junior walking buses have been rescheduled. We will be in contact after half term with new dates, when the weather turns nicer! In the meantime keep walking and wheeling for our daily WOW travel challenge.🚶🏽☀️

The infant ‘Wheels Day’ will still go ahead, as planned, on Thursday 21st May. Children can, if they would like to, bring in a bike, scooter, or another wheeled toy they feel comfortable using, and enjoy outdoor play during the school day 🚲🛴

Please remember helmets are essential, and knee and elbow pads are encouraged if your child has them. The weather is set to be much warmer and sunnier on this day so please make sure your child is prepared with a sun hat, water bottle and suncream applied ready for the day☀️🔥

Travel Smart Week – Let’s Get Moving! 🛴🚶‍♀️🌍

We’re excited to be celebrating Travel Smart Week (Monday 18th – Friday 22nd May) with two fun, optional activities for our children! As we already take part in the year‑round WOW challenge, encouraging pupils to walk to school at least three times a week (which is going brilliantly 👏) we’re exploring some different and exciting ways to mark the week!

🎶🚶🏾Junior Walking Bus🚶🏻‍♀️🎶

Our Junior classes will be taking part in a Walking Bus, meeting up before school to walk together, chat with friends, listen to music and enjoy a healthy start to the day while helping reduce congestion at the school gates.

With the chocolate raffle, merchandise, bun sale and hat wearing, we’ve managed to raise an AMAZING £1080.50 for Brain Tumour Research💛
