Personalised plans to grow confidence and uplevel their studies. I teach Reception to year 11 in maths and English around Chesterfield, Derbyshire and UK (through zoom). I have been CRB checked, and I have got 25 years (2021) experience teaching all of the curriculum topics, but mostly maths and English. Janie's Mobile School works in a caring and friendly way, but can put my foot down when needed. Children have been in school all day, and having a different environment when at home learning, is necessary.

Hi my name is Janie, and I have been teaching/tutoring for 30 years with 6 of those years online. I continue to work 100% online now.

I help all age groups:

Years 2 to 6 - English and maths (I do help in other subjects on request)

Years 7 to 11 - maths, English lang, English Lit, geography, history and all 3 sciences.

I have my 30 year anniversary this month, and I have discounted prices until 30th September for 3 more children.

Years 2 to 6 - £100 for a 4 week block.
Years 7 to 11 - £140 for a 4 week block.

I do not offer free trials, because it doesn't give me or your child time to build a routine.

What do you think your child needs help with right now?

Is it the schoolwork, or maybe believing they can actually do it?

As I’ve seen over the years, parents naturally assume the answer is more help with the subject.

But if their confidence has already dropped, the academic difficulty and that belief of “I can’t do this” may need to be worked on together.

More work is not always the answer to begin with.

Sometimes a child needs small successes that help rebuild their belief in themselves while they are learning.

What happens when schoolwork starts getting in the way of your relationship with your child?

I hear about this so many times.

You try to help, then they get frustrated. You start getting frustrated too and homework becomes one of those evening things that everyone dreads.

When this starts happening, the problem is no longer just the work itself. The tension around it is beginning to affect home life for everyone.

Sometimes bringing in someone from outside the family can take some of that pressure away and make life that little bit easier.

They can work through the academic difficulty with your child while you get to step back from feeling like you are always the one pushing and trying to make homework happen.

Let me ask you this. Does homework feel like a constant battle in your home?

Maybe homework has become a recurring source of tension rather than just the occasional difficult evening.

If your child is repeatedly saying they can’t do the work, it may be more than one particular task they’re struggling with. They may have started believing that schoolwork as a whole is something they just can’t do.

And when that belief starts creeping in, their confidence can begin to drop too.

So pushing harder or arguing about the homework may not solve what is really going on underneath it. They may need a different kind of support.

Your child is not a booking on somebody else’s system.

When a parent contacts me about tuition, they speak directly to me.

There is no agency in the middle.

We talk privately about what is happening, where their child may be struggling, what support they need and what will work best for that family.

And privacy matters to me.

I am very happy to explain publicly how my tutoring works.

What I will not do is ask a parent to discuss their child’s difficulties in a Facebook comment for everybody else to read.

This September marks 30 years since I started tutoring, and I am opening five new anniversary places.

Those five families will receive a special anniversary rate that stays with them.
