πŸ’› Hello Yellow at William Rhodes πŸ’›

On Friday 9th October, we are coming together to support YoungMinds and raise awareness of the importance of children's mental health and wellbeing.

We are inviting all children to bring a Β£1 donation to school. In return, each child will receive a yellow ribbon to wear with pride. Our aim is simple: let's see if we can have a school full of yellow ribbons! πŸ’›

Every donation, no matter how small, helps YoungMinds continue their vital work supporting young people and ensuring that no child feels alone with their mental health.

At William Rhodes, we believe in being Ready, Respectful and Safe, and in looking after ourselves and each other. By taking part, our children will be helping to make a positive difference to the lives of young people across the country.

Thank you for your support. Together, let's make William Rhodes shine yellow! πŸŒŸπŸ’›

If you would like to donate online, you can do so via our fundraising page:

πŸ’šπŸ’›At William Rhodes we are proud that our children get experiences as part of our core offer. Every half term our children are offered a visit or a workshop to bring their learning to life. πŸ’›πŸ’š

These opportunities make their primary school journey one filled with excitement, joy and a thirst for learning. This helps us all to love learning and love life!

Thank you to our families who support us to enable these opportunities to continue! πŸ‘

A right, not a privilege.

πŸ’šπŸ’›What we say to children in their most difficult moments matters. πŸ’›πŸ’š

At William Rhodes, we understand that all children, and all adults, make mistakes. Being human means sometimes getting things wrong, and every mistake is an opportunity to learn, grow and move forward.

When a child is struggling, our first response is not judgement. Our staff are trained to give children the time and space they need to regulate their emotions before helping them to reflect on what has happened. We know that meaningful change comes through connection, not correction.

Once a child is ready, restorative conversations help them to understand the impact of their choices, develop empathy for others and think about what they can do differently next time. These conversations are powerful because they teach important life skills while preserving relationships and dignity.

We hold high standards and support children to make good choices, but we do so with compassion. We want every child to know that one difficult moment does not define them, that they will not be shamed for their mistakes, and that every day is a fresh start.

Because when children feel safe, valued and understood, they are far more likely to learn from their mistakes and make better choices in the future. 🌟

🌟🍎 As World Teacher Day comes to a close, we want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all of our incredible teachers. 🍎🌟

Every day, our teachers inspire, nurture and challenge children to be the very best versions of themselves. They celebrate successes, provide comfort during difficult moments, and go above and beyond to ensure every child feels valued, supported and capable of achieving great things.

Today, we celebrate not only their dedication and professionalism, but also the kindness, patience and passion they bring to our school community each and every day.

To all the teachers at William Rhodes and across the world, thank you for the difference you make. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom and helps shape the future, one child at a time. ❀️

✨ NEW THIS WEEK: THREAD 7 – We Keep Things Tidy! ✨

As part of our Ready to Learn approach, we are continuing to develop our Ready rule and this week we are introducing Thread 7: We Keep Things Tidy πŸ§ΉπŸ“š

This thread helps children learn to:

βœ… Put things away
βœ… Keep their space clear
βœ… Leave it ready for the next person

Keeping our classrooms tidy is about much more than appearance. When equipment is returned to the correct place, children can quickly find what they need and spend more time learning rather than looking for resources β°πŸ“–. A tidy environment also helps everyone feel calm, organised and ready to learn. 🌟

You can help at home by encouraging children to put toys, books and equipment away after use and to leave spaces ready for others. Small habits make a big difference! πŸ’š

This week, 20 of our children were lucky enough to be chosen to attend a very exciting trip to London.

After a very early start, they enjoyed a workshop at Pineapple Dance Studios before watching a matinee performance of Matilda then enjoying a two course meal at Pizza Express.

Huge thank you to Embark Federation for making this possible. It really was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. β€οΈπŸ’™βοΈ

πŸ’šπŸ’›This week in assembly, we continued to develop Thread 6: We Listen to Each Other. We explored how being ready to learn means turning towards the speaker, listening carefully to what is being said and asking questions to clarify our understanding. These small actions help us show respect, build stronger relationships and support everyone to learn.πŸ’›πŸ’š

We also celebrated National Poetry Day, linking our learning to our Pure Potential knowledge. We shared the beautiful poem My Inner Weather Report and reflected on how our feelings can change, just like the weather. The poem helped us think about recognising emotions, understanding ourselves and knowing that all feelings are valid.

To bring poetry to life, we listened to and joined in with performances of A Quiet Little Word and The Power of a Poem with Miss Farrow. Pupils enjoyed exploring the power of words, rhythm and performance, discovering how poetry can inspire, encourage and help us understand the world around us.
