After all the matcha chat earlier in the week…. Comes… the most underwhelming taste test EVER! šŸ˜‚šŸŒ±šŸ¤˜šŸ¼I know but felt the need to follow up!

Thanks to for supplying me with the dodgy bag of powder…!

Tbh I would have it again, I think it’s probably the oat milk & strawberry flavour which made it taste nice as opposed to the matcha itself. Definitely wouldn’t rush out the door to buy a bag of it though!

Thanks for the participation! šŸ‘ŒšŸ½šŸ‘šŸ¼

Fitness Friday! It’s been a busy one! But back to basics for me! After 4 pretty heavy (amazing!) weekends on the bounce I really felt the need to properly get back on track this week. So that’s what I did!

āœ… Focus on sleep
āœ… No booze, plenty of water (could drink more)
āœ… Workout every day (LOVED it this week, felt strong!)
āœ… Minimum 10km steps per day
āœ… Tracked my food and stuck to calories
āœ… Maximised protein
āœ… Snacked less (but when I did it was protein based - cottage cheese on sweet chilli rice cakes! NICE! 🤣)

I know exactly what to do to feel better, I think we all do, I’d just lacked consistency recently, but I’ve built solid, daily habits which are consistent enough that I’m never too far away from feeling my best (but also allow me to enjoy weekends to the max! Although last weekend I definitely over-did it! 🫠🤪)

I’ve loved this week. I feel in control again! And although I’m going to relax a bit this weekend coming, I’m not going to go mad!

For me that’s it’s all about. A healthy, balanced lifestyle. Making small, sustainable switches which you can stick to. Start small. Maybe try one of these things…

šŸ‘šŸ¼Move every day - a short walk is better than no walk
šŸ‘šŸ¼Drink a pint of water in the morning.
šŸ‘šŸ¼Go to bed 20 mins earlier.
šŸ‘šŸ¼Track what you eat.
šŸ‘šŸ¼Eat some fruit or veg with every meal.

Trust me, small changes add up! Do it for you! šŸ‘ŒšŸ½

STORYTIME! šŸ“ (the condensed version!)
On this day 2 years ago I was made redundant from the corporate role I’d been in for 7 years. I had NO idea it was going to happen. And it stung like a bitch!! Once they’d told me the news (via Teams) they said I wasn’t allowed to contact any of my colleagues or partners, and I couldn’t attend any meetings… I had to just shut my laptop and go silent. It was awful! It felt like I was being punished (I hadn’t done anything wrong btw, it was just a restructure but they didn’t want anyone else panicking - sure šŸ™„).

I, however, spent the afternoon panicking(!), phoning family & friends, wondering what the hell I was gonna do… but I went to teach my regular Monday night class as normal. My head was in the shed, but we had a fab session and these are the photos of that evening! šŸ“ø

Lots of deliberation, consideration and legal chat followed, but essentially, I ended up taking the redundancy package offered and decided to set up my own fitness business… I was already qualified as a PT and a fitness instructor, but I’d had no time to pursue it properly, my overriding thoughts were that I might not get an opportunity like this again… so be brave, and go for it!

So, I built a website, set up a business and started working as a PT and online coach! I was lucky enough to work in 3 brilliant, studio-style gyms in Chester and absolutely fell in love with training clients in person! But it was hard going on family life. All early mornings and late evenings, different schedules each week, meant it was a strain - financially it was hard too.

So when I saw a new corp job advertised I went for it. Mainly because it sounded right up my street… but it’s the reason I’m now a hybrid corp bod / PT / fitness instructor… and the balance couldn’t be better tbh! I’m lucky to be able to train a small number of my absolutely FANTASTIC clients and still have fun in classes… But I can guarantee I wouldn’t be doing this if I’d not been made redundant in the first place…

So… moral of the story… unexpected s**t happens, but it’s how you react to it that matters. And sometimes you gotta take the risk. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. 🫔
