The Expectation Gap: When Do Toddlers Have Control Over their Behaviors? - Mona Delahooke, Ph.D. - Pediatric Psychologist - California
One reason parents can feel so frustrated about toddler’s behavior is the “expectation gap.” Many parents assume that tots are capable — or should be capable — of doing things that their brains simply aren’t ready to do yet.

The Real Reasons Toddlers Push Limits - Janet Lansbury
Limit-pushing behavior can confound even the most attuned parent or caregiver. Why would our sweet darling throw her toy at us when we’ve just asked her not to, and then add insult to injury by smirking? Is she evil? Does she have a pressing need to practice throwing skills? Maybe she just hates u...

I’m no longer running Toddle classes, but I still love small people and am on a continuing journey of learning about being a parent. I love the work of Janet Lansbury. So worth a read or listen.

Stop Being So Stern (What to do Instead) - Janet Lansbury
Whether our child’s temperament is placid and agreeable, strong willed and intense, or something in between, all children have one need in common: our respectful, confident leadership. But with the dearth of respectful care models in our society, it can be tricky to grasp what confident leadership...

Have you noticed a beautiful new face in our studios..?! It’s our new teacher; Miss Anna - our 6th teacher to join our teaching faculty!
Anna trained at Northern Ballet School before enjoying a varied career as a dancer in the UK and abroad. She began teaching in 2009 and later went on to complete her Diploma in Dance Education in Imperial Classical Ballet and Modern Theatre with the ISTD.
In 2013, Anna decided to develop her own dance business, focusing on introducing people of all ages to dance in a non intimidating way (and this is how we know she’ll fit in her perfectly at HD). She developed the well loved ‘Toddle’ classes, sparking a love of dance in many which is still there today. Anna also enjoyed her work as a choreographer for Camberley Theatre and On at Fife and the occasional dabble into acting for screen and stage.
Anna is thrilled to be dipping her (pointed) toes into the world of teaching again by joining the team at Harwood Dance. She can’t wait to get to know all the little people in her classes and have lots of fun together and they continue on their dance journey.
Welcome to the family, Miss Anna 💙

So....if you haven't seen or heard, back in July I made the tough decision to cut back the number of classes that I will be running to just one. If you didn't receive the email with all the information in, please do get in touch so I can get it out to you.
If you're waiting for the return of that one class, now that I finally have some childcare in place, I'm now starting to see if this is viable given the current guidance etc. I'll let you know as soon as I do. Thank you as always for your love and support of this tough decision! # # #
