π Year 3 Spotlight π
Year 3 have had a busy and successful term, showing a positive attitude and enthusiasm across all areas of learning! ππ
π Maths
We have made excellent progress in our place value unit, developing our understanding of hundreds, tens and ones. The children have become increasingly confident in identifying place value and finding numbers that are more or less than a given number. π’β¨
π English
We enjoyed exploring our transitional unit Bothered by Bugs, using actions and retelling of the story to help us engage with the text and deepen our understanding. ππ¦ More recently, we have started Harley Hitch and the Iron Forest, which has inspired some fantastic outdoor learning. π³ The children worked collaboratively to design and build their own time machines, bringing their ideas to life through imaginative play and discussion. β³π
πΊ History
Our topic on Prehistory has captured the children's interest. During outdoor learning, they created Neolithic settlements, with some groups focusing on farming while others designed homes and community spaces. π‘πΎ They showed creativity, teamwork and a growing understanding of how people lived during the Neolithic period.
πͺ¨ Science
This term, we have investigated different types of rocks and soils and explored how fossils are formed. π¦π The children approached their learning with curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and engaging well in discussions and investigations.
πββοΈπββοΈ PE
In PE, we have focused on developing fundamental movement skills, including balancing, jumping and catching. π€ΈββοΈπ― These skills have supported our netball lessons, where the children have demonstrated increasing confidence and coordination.
π¨ Art
The children created cave paintings using natural materials collected from the outdoor environment. πποΈ They also made their own paint from flour, water and spices, helping them to understand the methods and materials that may have been used by prehistoric people.
β Year 3 have worked hard throughout the term and should be proud of everything they have achieved. We look forward to building on this success next term. Well done, Year 3! ππππ«
