Listening to radio 2 this morning and hearing the pause for thought about Thanksgiving, made me think of what I am grateful for, the fabulous students and families I work with and the lovely emails I receive on a regular basis.

Due to popular demand I will be starting a new 11+ book club, open to my current tutees and new students. A great way to encourage children to read and develop a love of reading, whilst targeting the 11+ vocabulary and inference skills they need.

I know it can be more fun for students to bring along a friend, so for each child's first month they are welcome to join for a 50% discount for that month's fees. That works out at £30 for the month. In December we will be getting into the festive spirit and reading a Christmas Pig by JK Rowling together.

New Creative Writing Workshops - Following requests I am offering these workshops. May's sessions will be £20 for the month (no session on 17.5.25) Sessions can be booked on a monthly basis (please confirm by 30th of each month)

Learning can be fun! This is a great game to practise vocabulary. Whether young children need to learn the first 100 words, 11+ vocabulary or enhancing vocabulary for writing this helps makes an important task enjoyable. You can also play it with children of different ages / abilities at the same time as they use their own lists.

New Summer Term weekly classes. With just over 20 weeks left, I'm offering new courses for Year 5 students preparing for the 11+ CSSE or FSCE exams in September 2025. These Sunday courses focus on English (reading and writing), Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, and vocabulary development. The course includes timed papers and tests, with a focus on core skills to help children progress and learn.

I am a firm believer that for any exam or educational achievment, regular consistent practice is needed. I advocate a combination of short, regular intervals of studying through consistent work and as many fun, creative activities as possible. As a qualified teacher, SENDCo and senior leader I am skilled at planning bespoke learning packages for my students. With professional memberships and subscriptions for a number of expert organisations I am able to share high quality resources and my own original material to support my students to consolidate their learning between sessions in tailored study plans and homework activities.
