Day 3 - what triggers you into buying things you don't need?

As with most challenges, awareness is one of the first steps.

If it is scrolling, then removing apps limiting scroll time might help.

If it is stress, can you find an alternative way to feel better. Go for a walk, sing along loudly to music ( Weak is my go-to song - such a great release).

I'd love to know what it is for you and share any tips that help you. Let's help each other feel better.

Day 2 of National Organising Week - ways to reduce buying too much.

The highlights, but watch the video for full details.

- Online food shopping.

- Leave items in your shopping basket for 24 hours and decide if you really need it or even go back.

- Remove cards from your Google Wallet and Apple Pay and shopping apps from your phone home screen.

-Review your bank account and see where you are spending your money. How long would it take to earn that money back.

- Find ways to distract yourself.

I'd love to know how you avoid buying too much stuff.

When you sit on your sofa or in your bed tonight...

What draws your attention and is it a good feeling?

Do you feel relaxed or wired?

If not, what 1 step could you take to feel better?

Maybe clear your work papers away?
Take the kids' toys out of your bedroom?
Put the clothes away that have been sat on the chair for over a week?

Turn down the visual noise and help yourself feel better... This is an act of self care for you.

How do you feel about your home when you open the door?

Do you feel relieved to be home?

Or deflated because you know what is waiting behind the door?

One of the things I love when helping clients is giving them back a place to rest and recharge. A place that really feels like home?

Today was all about giving back to those who give so much!

I was really pleased to be back again this year to help get organised ahead of their new school year of activities.

Helping charities isn't always about donating money (although that obviously helps too!). It can also be about giving your time.

That is what myself, and .elsdon25, whom I met at A big thank you to the team from SNAP who worked so hard too!

Toy and fundraising cupboards organised, building on the systems we put in place last year. Helping SNAP Charity be fully prepared to help even more families this year.

We even had some items that will be reused by for her Mumba Children's project in Africa, continuing the circle of giving.

How could you choose to give back to a charity?

Donating time or money, passing on items you have decluttered , or sharing this post to help raise awareness of a wonderful charity?

New month.
New client.
A 3 hour session in their spare room.

They went from a 0/10 to a 7/10!

A shift like this is possible for you, too... even if you think it isn't!

All items reviewed, sorted into categories, and put into their respective homes.

I dropped off charity donations for them... helping take another task off their to-do list.

It all started with a free initial call to talk things through... are you ready to start your organising journey? If so, let's talk.

It isn't always about letting go of items....

Sometimes, you want to cherish sentimental items, and it is much better than them just sitting in a loft or a box.

A big thank you to Alison .by.alison
for doing just that for my daughter's first pointe shoes. Any dancer will tell you it is a special moment when you get your first pointe shoes and something she wants to keep.

You're able to personalise the items she makes, and she has lots of dance inspired gifts. She really went the extra mile to ensure it was just right, including a lovely note to Erin inside the package.

Not an ad, just sharing my experience and love the idea.

September- stress or success?

80% of New Year's Resolutions have been given up within a month, so be careful not to fall into the same trap this September.

Be careful of trying to change too much and focus on:

1 - what it is you want.
2 - why? What difference will it make to your life?
3 - How you will feel when you get it.

Small but consistent change is much more sustainable and increases your chances of success without the stress.

Watch out for the 'shoulds', which are usually a good indicator that it isn't something you truly want.

If getting your life organised is on your list, get in touch for a free initial call. I promise you that it doesn't have to be as stressful as it feels right now.
