If you are navigating your pregnancy journey in Essex right now, pull up a chair. This space is for you. ✨

When you find out you’re pregnant, it’s easy to feel swept away by the sheer volume of information, timelines, and clinical hospital policies. It is incredibly common to feel like your birth is something happening to you, rather than something you are actively taking part in.

I know exactly how that feels because I’ve been on both sides of the maternity system.

My first birth was a highly medicalised hospital induction, in a unit now officially categorised as unsafe. I was told what to do, my individual circumstances were ignored, and I simply went with the flow.

My second birth was a completely transformed, deeply empowering, physiological homebirth. The difference? I looked at the actual evidence, understood my choices, and took full control of my decision-making. I OWNED my birth story.

As an independent Doula and Birth Educator (and a former science teacher who loves digging into data!), my mission is simple: To make sure your birth is yours.

You deserve to feel safe, respected, heard, and completely in control of your birth and postpartum experience, however you define it.

Whether you need a focused strategy session to troubleshoot a hurdle, a tailored antenatal workshop, or dedicated virtual and postnatal care to protect your precious newborn bubble, I am here to walk alongside you.

With love from Emma xx

✨ Postpartum Food Prep ✨

I honestly can not explain how much of a difference it has made to have food in the freezer, ready to go.

I highly recommend squeezing in a food prep day or asking your friends/family/community to get involved with a meal train 💕

This chicken and sweetcorn soup has been absolutely *chef's kiss*.

I am so grateful to my mum and sister for facilitating this for my family 🥹

✨ One week ✨

It has definitely been a week of two halves.

One minute I'm filled with confidence, peace and "I've got this".

And in the next minute I'll crumble.

In the throes of my second postpartum it is clear that I suffer from debilitating postpartum anxiety.

However, I was prepared this time, and although the mix of hormones/sleep deprivation/resurfacing trauma is a particularly hard one to weather, this time I have the support and practical steps in place.

Sending love to all going through it, we are certainly not alone 💕

I am so grateful to be able to be more present in this experience this time around, and this also means that I have been able to experience all the magic ✨💐. I have been able soak up all the lovely moments, everything that I didn't manage in my previous experience that was purely in survival mode.

Deep breaths, one day at a time 🥰

✨ Still Waiting ✨

This photo was taken on my Due date, full of hope and excitement and optimism.

And yet I am posting this at 41 + 5, in the bath again, with my final handful of bath salts 😅

The emotional rollercoaster has been unbelievably difficult. I have been flip flopping between confidence & trust, and frustration & anxiety.

I have a whole new understanding of this period of time 💕
