Last term year 3 spent some time at the woods where we enjoyed taking part in a re-enactment of a Celts V Roman battle. We also made wooden puppets. We had to measure, saw and drill our wood, fixing the limbs on with metal hooks and eyes, before decorating them. As always, we had a brilliant time and made memories that will stay with us for years!

We are very proud of our House Captains who organised games and activities for the whole school this week. They also bought lollies for all the children with money that they raised earlier in the year.

Our Otters class had a wonderful time at our Café Otters last term, tasting French pastries, choosing their favourite from their menu, ordering from their French-speaking waiter and answering in their best French accent, trying to find ways of remembering their phrases!

Squirrels class enjoyed a trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park last term where they culminated their learning about Madagascar and its native animals and their habitats. They saw lots of different creatures and learnt many new facts, including the collective nouns for a group of giraffes and rhino. They were also treated to a tour of the park on the train before heading home on the coach.

This term, Otter class enjoyed a trip to Chedworth Villa to support their learning in history about the Romans. They took part in several topic-based activities and were given a guided tour of the villa including the incredible mosaic floors, bath and outdoor temple with its own spring. We all enjoyed a great day!

Our children in year 5 and year 6 put on an incredible show this week which was the talk of Chalford! Everyone involved pulled out all the stops to make this a vintage performance. Very well done to our y6 children, who stepped into their character’s shoes confidentially, and our y5 children, who sang beautifully and provided the rats and monkeys! We are so proud of the children who have worked so hard to make this a show to remember.

During March, Year 6 went on their amazing residential trip to Viney Hill outdoor adventure centre in the Forest of Dean. During the week we undertook a range of exciting outdoor activities including: rock climbing, raft building, indoor caving, crate stack, ‘all aboard’, ‘quick jump’ and many more. We stayed for three nights in rooms in the old house. The rooms were really comfortable and it was great to have a sleep-over with our mates – three times in a row (although we were all struggling with lack of sleep by Friday!)

Some of the activities really challenged us but we all proved to ourselves that we could overcome our fears – and that felt amazing. We were all pleased to see our parents again on Friday but it was an experience that we will never forget. Next year’s Year 6 will absolutely love it too!!
