Mikala Hinsby's Childminding I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder and take children from 0-4 years old (school ready). I am within walking distance to the local station

I offer government funding for all age groups and accept tax free childcare. I have been an Ofsted registered childminder for the last two and a half years. Back in 1997 I became qualified with my BTEC Early Years Childcare diploma and went on to work in private nurseries within their baby rooms. From there I did a year working with an agency gaining further experience with different age early yea

rs children. In 2001 I started working in a local authority nursery in inner London where I spent then next 12 years. During my time there I worked with children ranging from 18mths right through to 5, I was also head of the Special Educational Needs department. Since becoming a childminder I have looked after children ranging from 1 year old all the way through to 9 at present. From September I will have vacancies for children under 5 on a variety of days. I also drop off and collect from Warren Primary and have vacancies for both before and after school drop off and collection as well as holiday cover. Please feel free to contact me t find out if I am able to help.

Two special leavers this summer, one little man who may only have been here a short time but will be very much missed who is leaving due to a house move and one very grown up young man who after 10 years is leaving as he is off to secondary school. Both will be missed and I have been informed by my school leaver that he will be popping into see me and is definitely coming for our Christmas dinner celebrations 😍

With everyone feeling the effects of the heat and lack of sleep a nice chilled morning and reading stories is just what the doctor ordered. Lots of talk about what could be seen in the pictures and sharing ideas of what alternative endings could happen with our friends.

A very busy day today. Everyone has loved playing with our new resource - foam clay, including the after schoolers. The concentration whilst playing with it along with using those fine motor skills and our imagination to create things from birthday cakes πŸŽ‚ to unicorns πŸ¦„ was lovely to watch.
We also went and played with our friends and throughly enjoyed playing with the dolls house.

What better way to spend the hottest week of the year than with water play. Unfortunately the storm ruined the gazebo so no paddling pool at the beginning of the week but we chased the shade around the garden for some water play. Today our new gazebo arrived so as requested it was time for the paddling pool 😍

Yesterday was all about being physical and using those large muscles for the little one on a wet and rainy day.
Today we made 3- ingredient apple cake, we cut the apples and watched what happens when we blitz them, added the eggs and flour and watched them cook. For desert we enjoyed our home made apple cakes with some of our home made ice cream that we made the other week πŸ˜‹

It has been a foody kind of day. First off, on request from one of our school children, we had some fruit tasting. A little of everything was tried by all, the pineapple being the biggest successbut no one was keen on the coconut.
Following on from playing in the sand and making ice cream we decided to make our own - we have strawberry and chocolate chip ice cream tomorrow with some to take home too so our famies can try it as well.

A lovely morning with playdough, strengthing those muscles in our hands that are so important for pre writing skills.
