We have recently been preparing an area in our garden to introduce some new sensory plants, such as herbs and grasses. The children helped prepare the planters by gathering twigs in the woods and then filling in the compost. Before planting, the children smelt the different herbs and we talked about what we need to do to look after them and help them grow 🌱

🌷 Happy Mother’s Day everyone 🌷
I hope you all loved your cards the children made this week.
We used tissue paper and water to create a water colour effect onto the flower template. The children were amazed at how the colour transferred and we enjoyed comparing all the different patterns.

Hello everyone, we have 2 large raised beds we would like to grow flowers, grasses and herbs with the children. But to help fill them, we need lots of cardboard. If you have any cardboard boxes or packaging that would be great, thankyou

The children were keen to explore the snow and ice that we had a few days ago. We used our fingers to draw patterns and shapes and measured who had the biggest and smallest feet by looking at our footprints we left behind.

This term we are learning about eachother and our differences and similarities. This afternoon we went to the school library to find books about homes. We learned that some of us live in houses with stairs and some don’t and we talked about what we can see when we look out of our windows at home. We also discovered that people around the world live in different types of homes, including bungalows, flats, igloos and homes made of palm leaves.
We then created our own paintings of home by using different shaped blocks in paint. We named the shapes we were using together, including some 3D names too. We also discussed which shapes we could use for different parts, such as a triangle for a roof.

We tried painting delicately on cling film yesterday, whilst also working on our shoulder movements, an important skill to develop to support future hand writing. The children enjoyed seeing their paintings from different sides of the table. We saw “rainbows” and “dragons”!
