🎵 We were delighted to welcome Rishi Sunak to Colburn Community Primary School on Friday 5th June.
During his visit, our Year 1 children proudly shared some of the songs they have been learning and even taught him our favourite "Touch Your Shoulders" song! This involves singing, listening carefully, remembering actions and keeping in time with everyone else. We're pleased to report that Mr Sunak rose to the challenge brilliantly! 👏
Over the past year, our staff have worked closely with Lindsay Ibbotson from First Thing Music to develop a music-rich approach across EYFS and Key Stage 1. We have seen first-hand how music can support children's listening skills, memory, language development and confidence, while bringing joy and energy to everyday learning.
Music has become an important part of life at Colburn, and we were delighted to have the opportunity to showcase the wonderful work of our children and staff.
A huge thank you to Mr Sunak for taking the time to visit our school and see the positive impact that music is having on our pupils. 🎶
