🪂🇲🇦 THERMAL CHASERS MOROCCO DAY 1

📍 Nid d’Aigle, El Borj

Day 1 got Thermal Chasers off to a flying start! 🗻🐲🪂

With plenty of low-airtime pilots joining us this week, the focus is on building skills and confidence, guided by the BHPA Club Pilot (CP) and Pilot syllabuses.

Wonderful soaring and thermalling conditions provided a great opportunity for pilots to develop their flying, gain valuable airtime and progress at their own pace. Understanding the conditions and making decisions within individual abilities are central to that progression.

With Andy Shaw’s experience and Larbi’s local knowledge, the team is helping pilots make the most of their time in Morocco. 🇲🇦

THERMAL CHASERS DAY 7 - GREECE ❤️🇬🇷🗻🐲

7 days out of 7 flying!

What an incredible Thermal Chasers trip, with cloud base reaching around 7,000ft every day and a top altitude of 9,050ft!

The pilots enjoyed a huge amount of thermalling and cross-country navigation throughout the week. The changing weather provided excellent learning opportunities and plenty of challenges, while allowing everyone to fly safely, build confidence and gain a better understanding of their individual skill sets.

A brilliant week of progression, decision-making and unforgettable flying! 🐲🪂

DAY 6 - EDESSA, GREECE 🇬🇷

Six out of six days flying and another day of mega flights!

After five solid days in the air, managing energy levels was just as important as managing the flying. The pilots continued to make brilliant decisions, recognising when to fly, when to rest and how to remain focused despite tiredness.

Today, we flew from another new site: the famous town of Edessa. The locals kindly opened a huge 60-foot gate, allowing us access to launch from the mountain.

The group thermalled above the town before heading off on some fantastic cross-country flights. Several pilots enjoyed more than three hours in the air, completing triangles and impressive open-distance flights.

Another epic day of thermalling, sound decision-making and excellent flying! 👍🐲🌪️🪂🇬🇷

☀️ DAY 5 THERMAL CHASERS - GREECE 🇬🇷🪂

Today, we flew from a new site called Kerasies, close to the border between Greece and North Macedonia.

It proved to be another epic day of thermalling and cross-country flying, with pilots reporting climbs of up to 5 metres per second and reaching heights of 2,400 metres!

Today’s lesson was patience! Something that isn’t always easy when you want to climb quickly and fly far! 😅 By staying patient, reading the conditions and making considered decisions, the pilots enjoyed another safe and successful day in the sky.

DAY 4 THERMAL CHASERS GREECE - SAFE DECISIONS & A NEW DESTINATION 🪂

Another safe and successful day for the Thermal Chasers!

Pilots reported that the skies felt rough at times, but everyone flew safely and remained well within their individual skill sets. As the weather began to change, the pilots made the excellent decision to land under the guidance of Andy and Stelios.

With the flying complete, it was time to pack the bags! In true Thermal Chasers tradition, we’re now on the road to Macedonia, where we’ll be exploring new flying sites over the next few days.
