A little allotment update - please show the children so they can see all that is going on over the summer!

These little pumpkins had been pulled off by an animal - big claw marks down them! I wonder what it might have been?

I also persuaded my children to help - one helped loads and the other hid in the car!

And look how big our pumpkins are getting!! 😳

I’m so proud of these young growers! On our final allotment session today we managed to harvest some potatoes, broad beans, a squash and a runner bean. We were also given a beetroot by a fellow allotment owner. With time being a little short this week, I’ve brought the haul home, made a roasted veg medley and will bring it in for the children to taste tomorrow. Amazing for them to see the whole process from seed to their forks!

A great Fresh Air Friday session this week! We are absolutely loving looking at all the growing that’s happening now - with cucumbers, pumpkins and squash being the most impressive at the moment!

A little moment to thank all of our helpers this year too - we couldn’t do these sessions without you, your trips up to water, donations of items and time! We are very grateful!

And a big shout out to Swarkestone Nursery for their generous donation of plants for our allotment - they are in and doing well!!!

This always feels so poignant as we near the end of the year, today we waved goodbye to our butterflies after watching them grow and change. My heart as they waved goodbye!
