No, it's not about my haircare routine! It's about how to take care of your charcoal and pastel drawings.

This is important for the presentation and preservation of your artwork. And the bonus? It smells nice!

A few portraits from our first studio session in West Wales 🎨

These young artists decided to paint each other and enjoyed creating these expressive portraits, using direct observation and bold colour work.

Each artwork was completely different, and full of personality. They asked me to rate them 1-3, so of course I gave them all First Place for different reasons!

If you have a creative child in West Wales and would like to find out more about our bespoke art lessons, send us a message today.

Qualification pathways are available too - GCSE Art and the Arts Award (Bronze & Silver).

Freedom and structure - you can have both!

At LUDUS Art School, students work independently at their own pace, with regular check-ins to provide guidance, accountability and support along the way.

Quality creative learning, tailored to your needs.

Confidence can change everything ✨

One of our students recently came second in the regional Urdd art competition after entering for the first time this year.

Her parent shared this lovely review alongside the artwork featured here. It's imaginative, original, and full of personality.

Your child is creative - that's a gift. But how does this translate into qualifications, confidence and real-world abilities? We know that imagination and personal projects are valuable - we just need the world to take notice. That's why LUDUS offers creative learning with a wider perspective - we work towards recognised qualifications, and align students' activities with ambitions and dreams for their future.

👝 Quick message in case it helps the right person find me! 👋

Someone booked a GCSE Art discovery call with me recently, but my confirmation emails are bouncing back because their inbox appears to be full.

If that was you, please feel free to message me here, via WhatsApp, or clear a little space in your inbox and I’ll resend the meeting details.

Looking forward to speaking with you!

Travel zines - little handmade books of journaling joy! I've been making these for years, and now I support students to do the same through my very affordable online course (link in comments). Anyone can make one - I challenge you to try it next time you go on a trip.

Introducing… Dr. Katrina Crear!

I’m delighted to announce that Katrina is joining LUDUS Art School in an Academic & Development role.

LUDUS is evolving, and Katrina’s exceptional academic insight and operational thinking will be invaluable as the school develops its long-term vision and foundations.

Fun fact: I’ve known Katrina since our days in the commercial art world. In the gallery, we were known for our outrageous banter — always grounded in deep care, trust, and mutual respect.

This collaboration is rooted in those shared values, critical thinking, and a commitment to careful, ethical approaches to arts education.

Our relationship has stood the test of time, and I’m proud to say we now share a clear purpose: to make high-quality, accessible art education available to as many people as possible.

In this video, I talk through one of my own sketchbook reflections - how I recorded my thought processes and got clarity on where the project should go next.

🧠 Reflection = not just looking back, but thinking forward
